McDonald's customers left chuckling over 'unfortunate' sign error
Hungry customers at a McDonald’s branch were met with a glaring error in a sign on the door but the mistake brought amusement to many.
There can be few things more annoying than deciding you’re going to treat yourself to a naughty fast food treat and when you get to the shop of choice, you discover it’s shut.
Such was the case for customers at a branch of McDonald's who may have been hoping to indulge in a Big Mac and fries, or Fillet-O-Fish washed down with a strawberry milkshake but were disappointed to learn the restaurant was completely closed.
Their dismay may have been eased somewhat though and replaced with amusement when they read the notice on the door informing them they wouldn't be able to buy anything until the next day because it contained an unfortunate but very funny typo.
The particular outlet in question, the location of which wasn’t disclosed, was shut overnight from 11pm to 7am the next morning and presumably, a member of staff had typed out the message and printed it off to pin on the door at the entrance.
'I don't want children staying up late at weekends - I really need adult time'
A photo of the sign was shared on Reddit along with the caption: "Wow that’s pretty specific for a McDonald’s closure". The image showed a door with the notice, which rather annoyingly was positioned next to a poster showing the tempting treats normally on offer there.
It read: "Due to unfortunate circumcises, we will be closed from 11pm to 7am." Clearly it was supposed to say "circumstances" but the error brought much merriment to other users of the site who were quick to respond to the original post with one-liners incorporating the alternative meaning.
"Can't stay open because they've been cutting too many staff members," quipped one as another posted: "It's McDonald's......Tips aren't expected." A third wrote: "At least they've given people the cut-off times." And a fourth said: "Those cutbacks aren't necessary. I hope no one gets the sack."
Another commenter warned: "If they unexpectedly have crackling on the menu, order something else." While this person’s thoughts were also on the food: "If McDonald's introduced onion rings as a new menu item, I'm gonna think twice about it." Someone else pondered a potential discount: "When they re-open, will everything be 10% off?"
The rib-tickling blunder was shared just as it was revealed the chain is dropping five items from its menu, including the "best ever" burger. The five items on their way out were introduced earlier this month, on January 4 and are set to leave on February 6. Arguably the most popular item on its way out is the Steakhouse Stack burger. One fast food fan described the Steakhouse Stack as "literally the best burger ever" on social media as another said, it had been "rocking" their world lately.
