Mum praised for genius kids lunchbox system with no fuss
A canny mum has revealed how she makes her kids' school lunch preparation stress-free during a busy week.
There are so many things to keep on top of with young children during hectic week days and trying to make it all come together can be tricky. It's all too easy to end up forgetting they need their PE kit on a particular day, or to realise they have no clean uniforms or you’ve missed an email about a school trip.
Mornings are chaotic enough getting the little anarchists up out of bed, dressed and fed breakfast all while attempting to get to the school gates before they shut and still having your sanity intact before a day of actual work or house chores.
So one enviably organised mum has shared her simple but highly effective solution to having to prepare their lunchboxes.
Racheal Hallett, from Australia, is a co-founder of the hugely popular Facebook group Mums Who, which has over a million members. They describe themselves as "a community of hundreds of thousands of women sharing their tips, tricks, triumphs and tragedies over a vast array of topics and interests."

She has recently shared her foolproof way to ensure she's not frantically throwing together whatever she can grab from the fridge into a lunchbox before she dashes out the door in the mornings. Her tip recommends bulk cooking, just like you might do with dinners.
"School lunches can get tedious," she confesses. "You can do a bulk cook up and freeze many items in advance. Sandwiches, sausage rolls, sliders, pinwheels, wraps etc. these all freeze well." She points out though that any fillings that are water-based, like lettuce, cucumber or tomato should be avoided in case the bread or wraps become soggy.

She prefers lunchboxes with different compartments that are ideally leakproof and each section is used for various items such as fruit or snacks.
"I also keep a list inside my pantry with ideas to fill each of the spaces inside the lunch boxes we use (box large)," she says.
The savvy mum sometimes even sends her kids into school with a food thermos for warm lunches: "You can really send almost anything. If it's a pastry or breaded item then throw a paper towel in with it. We often send noodles or hot dogs and they are great," she shares.
But even Rachael has days when she just doesn't have the time or energy to make a meal for her little ones and she says on these occasions school dinners are definitely a worthy fall back option: "Budget in a lunch order on your hardest weekdays, if you can. Usually they aren't too expensive and a decent meal," she says.
Other members of the group loved the ideas, with lots thanking Rachael for sharing her tips which they intended to incorporate into their routines, while others shared their own handy hints for beating the morning rush.
