Mahek Bukhari's victim's heartbreaking 999 call recreated for harrowing ITV show

Mahek Bukhari's victim's 999 call moments before he was killed has been recreated for a harrowing ITV documentary about the murders.

Ansreen Bukhari was jailed for plotting to kill Saqib Hussain who had blackmailed her and threatened to expose their affair. Bukhari's daughter, Mahek, had recruited her online followers to "jump" Hussain, who alongside his friend Hashim Ijazuddin, 21, died in a car crash on the A46 in 2022.

The content creator, who had more than 160,000 followers on social media, hatched a plan to silence Hussain when he threatened to release explicit images and videos to expose the long-running affair. In a video clip of a police interview in February 2022, Bukhari says: "I don't know if I should mention this now, but I am out there on social media, I am a social media influencer."

But the harrowing call that Hussain made to the emergency services just minutes before his tragic murder has now been recreated for an ITV documentary. TikTok: Murder Gone Viral – The Mother & Daughter Killers aired on ITV tonight and detailed the chilling case. Mahek was jailed in September last year for a minimum of 31 years and eight months, whereas Ansreen was sentenced to at least 26 years and nine months.

The new ITV documentary opens with a reconstruction of the 999 call, with the voices replaced by actors, airing over real footage of the terrifying chase. Hussain was lured to a Tesco car park in February 2022 along with his pal and was told that the cold-blooded mother and daughter were handing over the £3,000 that he had spent on Bukhari during their affair.

Things, however, took a dark turn when they were chased by cars with eight people, all wearing balaclavas including Bukhari and her mum, inside. In a chilling twist, they later died in a fireball close to Lecister on the A46. In the call, Hussain can be heard saying: "There's guys following me, they're trying to kill me."

Saqib, who was distressed added: "They hit into the back of the car very fast. They're trying to ram us off the road. Please, I'm begging you, I think I'm going to die, I think I'm going to die." But tragically, the call cut out as their car crashed during the chase. After the tragic case went to court, both Ansreen and her daughter denied two counts of murder and two counts of manslaughter.

Detective Inspector Mark Parish told the documentary: "The only time I notice any remorse is when Mahek hears the 999 call being played to her. But I'm not sure it's remorse at the call. I think it's more to do with the fact that she recognises how serious a position she is in." He went on to add: "If it wasn't for social media, I do believe that Saqib and Hashim would be alive today."

Saqib's family said they had been "shattered" by the deaths of their loved one and his close friend. Meanwhile, relatives of Hashim said he had been "simply helping his friend". Addressing Mahek in court, Judge Timothy Spencer KC said: "Your tawdry fame as an influencer has made you utterly self-obsessed with... no apparent awareness of the impact you have on others, oblivious to the damage you do.

"That your solution to your mother's problems was to engage some of your male followers to beat up Saqib Hussain speaks volumes of your warped values and maybe also of the false world of influencing that you so enthusiastically espoused."
