A Brit has been praised for his savage response to an American video that hit out at UK houses for their lack of space and features. The series of domestic critiques ranged from central heating to taps and freezers.

The English TikToker user called 'AnAmericanInLondon' posted a video that begins: "British people come live in American houses. We have faucets where you can have hot and cold water at the same time. We also have this thing called central heating, where we don't rely on hot water moving around. A metal radiator to warm up."

The scene then moved downstairs as the unseen female narrator says: "Our homes have basements with cute little dogs. Sorry it's so messy. And in that basement are my favourite things. Is huge washing machine. I can literally fit in it.

"And my most favorite, a dryer. It dries all my clothes. Again, one of my most favorite appliances, the freezer." The clip was posted on Jack Knightly's TikTok profile - a user with 1.6 million followers - who then suddenly cuts in with a video of himself to caustically refute the claims made.

He starts by explaining: "The reason that we have hot and cold taps is because they run on two separate pipes. This is due to a thing called history, where things that were innovative at one point may not be so nowadays.

"Therefore, things are harder to change. I know your country has only existed for a few years, so it's hard for you to understand that." He then moves on to the debate the point about central heating and says: "Radiators are better for the environment and they're more sustainable. But guess what? A lot of houses also have central heating.

"These things that you might think of as American innovative inventions do exist in other countries. Not every British house was made 300 years ago. It do still build houses." Jack's video, which is boldly titled 'I am happy in my 13th century cottage', goes on to say: "Another thing you may not realise is that we have different sized houses in the UK as well.

"That means there are many houses that can afford to have a separate washer and dryer room. But guess what? Not everybody does. But I know in the United States you can buy a house for $100 that's made out of wood and you have as much space as you want. The only downside to that though is just one tiny storm will knock your house to the ground. But at least you have room for a dryer."

But perhaps his biggest diss was saved until last as he called out the amount of food that Americans are sometimes said to eat. He finished: "Another thing you may not realise is that in the UK and many other countries we have freezers because just like Americans, we understand the concept of coldness, how certain things will melt if they're not kept cold.

"But I understand why Americans above all need giant fridges and freezers. Because you eat just so much food. One tub of ice cream is like the size of, you know, a British house." The post was liked 1.2 million times and had almost 13,000 replies, with many seemingly tongue-in-cheek.

One wrote: "I'm so jealous of their central heating... I'm so sick of having to lit up a fire in the woods everynight," while another added: "OMG what is a freezer? How does it work? I need more informations."

Another lamented: "Living in the uk is so hard. Like having to go fetch water from the well to boil and then cool down to bathe in my metal bath. And sometimes I run out of matches to light the candles around the house." But one user just thought it was funny that Jack appeared to take the American's comments to heart and wrote: "He took it very personal HAHAHA."
