A harmless joke from the popular children's programme Bluey was one of many that was censored in the international version.

The Australian cartoon features Bluey, a Blue Heeler puppy and its family - Dad Bandit, Mum Chilli and younger sister Bingo. It's available to watch on ABC Australia and on Disney+ for international viewers. It seems like Disney isn't a fan of a few aspects of the show and made a few changes.

At first, the show's creators were asked to change the characters' Australian accents but it was rejected. Since it started airing in 2018, jokes and details have been changed to suit international audiences. The jokes most likely to be changed are ones about farting, vomiting or pooing.

A recent episode called Relax saw an innocent joke censored. The episode saw the family head to the beach for a holiday.

When Dad Bandit pulled into a garage, he said to his children: "All right, Super Troopers. Let the holiday begin." The original quote was: "All right, dingleberries! Let the holiday begin!" The word dingleberry is an informal way to describe a 'foolish or inept person'. It also means 'a piece of dried faecal matter clinging to the hair around the anus.'

It seemed like Disney wasn't a fan of the possibility someone could relate it to bodily fluids. Relax wasn't the only episode that was edited as a pregnancy-related episode that saw Bingo finding an old baby carrier. Bandit puts in on to demonstrate how it's used and Bluey thought it would be the perfect time to jump inside and play a game of 'Dad Baby.'

By the end of the episode, a birthing pool is set up in the garden and next-door neighbour Lucky's dad is asked to act as the midwife while Bingo pretends to be birthed from Bandit. The innocent episode about pregnancy and children was cut from Disney Plus and the show's creator previously discussed the censorship.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Bluey creator Joe Brumm explained: “Dad Baby is lots of fun, but honestly, it’s a minor episode in the Bluey canon. Perhaps the most significant thing Disney is denying Bluey heads is the first moment we learn Lucky’s dad has an actual name (it’s Pat).

“But that does nothing to excuse its silly, pandering exclusion from Disney Plus. It’s just robbing children of a fun way to learn how they came into the world and everyone else of seven minutes of joy.” The creator already knew the episode wouldn't be accepted the same way in the US.

Bluey is available to watch on Disney Plus.
