The Traitors Series One winner Meryl Williams has sensationally predicted that the show is set to take a dark turn in the next series as contestants are now "out for themselves."

In the first series of the show, which concluded in 2022, Meryl shared her cash prize with Faithfuls Aaron and Hannah - and attributes this to knowing they needed to work as a team. And this is something that is now becoming a distant memory. In a recent interview, on the back of the series two finale which saw Harry Clark swindle his co-stars out of the prize fund by executing a ruthless and deceptive strategy throughout the series, she claims that contestants will become "worse."

Speaking to Sky Vegas, she said: "I think everyone knows that they need to work together but I think they'll get to the point where they will just be worse because obviously I think it's become agreed that it’s every man for themselves, whereas we were always looking at sharing the money."

She added: "Whereas they see it as ‘that’s all my money’, so that's why they're just trying to get each other out. That's why I think they’ll get worse. They'll realise that they need to work together but they don't want to work together because that means you have to share. The more series or episodes there are, the harder it will get because I think people will be a lot more strategic. "

She continued: "Like this season, compared to last, is a lot more strategical and there’s a lot more game planning, whereas we were literally completely clueless. I mean some people had good ideas (not me!) but we were completely clueless in the sense of not having any hindsight."

However, despite her claims, it appears this has not deterred Meryl from wanting to return to the BBC show for an All Stars series - similar to that of Love Island's latest series. Further into her interview with Sky Vegas, she said: "You can tell they’ve definitely amped up the budget for this season, you can tell by the missions. I’m manifesting an All Stars [with past contestants] because I want to go back. Maybe after three or four series, they could bring the winners back and have one big game. A lot of people say they would never do it again but I would love to go back to play it a different way or maybe as a Traitor."

The one thing Meryl has noticed is that the format of the reality TV show has changed the way TV works. She explained: "The Traitors is changing the way that TV works, which is really good. We had demographics from 21-75, different ages, different visible and non-visible disabilities, which aren’t normally on TV shows."

She continued: "I like the fact that the show is so unscripted, and it’s just whatever people think. It's not like other shows where they’re told what to say. Whereas here, nothing is scripted or staged, which is good because you get to actually see the characters for who they are."
