Hollyoaks fans are desperate to know if Owen Warner is leaving the Channel 4 soap as Romeo Nightingale, after new scenes left them concerned.

The character sparked exit fears this week following his arrest for the murder of Rayne Royce, with him since pleading guilty to the charge. Despite James Nightingale trying to get his son to go on the run, Peri Lomax sealed his fate by alerting the police just days after Rayne's real killer was revealed.

Romeo was being abused by violent and controlling Rayne, with him not telling anyone about his ordeal. One day last year as she once again lashed out at him, Romeo pushed her and killed her by accident, while some fans are convinced someone else was the killer.

In recent scenes Romeo is in prison awaiting his sentencing, and now fans think this is Owen's exit from the show after six years in the role. The I'm A Celebrity star, who is dating his co-star and Rayne actress Jemma Donovan in real life, has yet to address a possible exit.

But after Romeo was seen pleading guilty to murder in the latest episode on Wednesday night, set to air on E4 on Thursday, fans are convinced it's game over for the character. Hollyoaks has yet to announce whether Owen is leaving as Romeo, so if an exit is on the cards they will likely confirm it once the scenes have aired.

This could be the end of this week or even Thursday night, depending how the prison scenes go. If there's a trial though, unlikely if he pleads guilty, perhaps he will be back onscreen.

That being said this is Hollyoaks and Romeo is a popular character, so might the show find a way to keep him on it? Fans are hoping the domestic abuse Romeo faced at the hands of Rayne might be considered when he is sentenced for her murder.

Fans took to X and Instagram to share their theories that Romeo will depart the show in the storyline, but again nothing is confirmed. Owen's Instagram account also hasn't given anything away, so fans will have to tune in to find out.

Hollyoaks is available to stream on Channel 4's streaming service now, while it also airs Mondays to Fridays on E4 at 7PM.* Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on , , , , and .
