Arsenal fans spark transfer excitement after noticing stadium schedule issue
Eagle-eyed Arsenal fans are speculating that an exciting announcement from the club is imminent after noticing a tweak to the stadium tour schedule.
On Wednesday and Thursday of this week, the Gunners are ending all tours of the Emirates an hour early 'due to an internal stadium event'. The stadium is often used for things like contract announcements or promotional videos for a new signing, sparking hope among the Arsenal faithful that perhaps a fresh face will be arriving in north London before the end of the January transfer window.
Alternatively, (and more likely), the stadium could be closed to help prepare for the announcement of an extension for one of the key players in Mikel Arteta's current crop. Both Benjamin White and Takehiro Tomiyasu have been touted as the stars next in line for a new contract.
The Gunners have made a habit of tying down their best players to new deals in recent years. All of Gabriel Magalhaes, Gabriel Martinelli, Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Martin Odegaard have penned extensions within the last 18 months.
The likelihood of a new signing arriving is unlikely, that much has been admitted by Arteta himself. "At the moment it does not look realistic," Arteta told beIN Sports earlier this month when asked about the prospect of signing a new striker.

"What my job is, and what we have to do is improve our players and try to get better results with the players we have." He echoed a similar sentiment more recently when asked about adding a new attacker.
"No. But, first thing, that’s because I love the players that we have," Arteta added. The comments didn't go down well with some fans at the time, but hopes are now high Arsenal could still yet spring a surprise before the window closes.

Arsenal fans noticed the tweak to stadium tour scheduling over the next two daysThe Gunners currently sit third in the Premier League table after their title charge endured a brief blip between Christmas and the new year. Successive defeats against both West Ham and Fulham have left Arsenal playing catch-up to league-leaders Liverpool.
However, they took a step in the right direction last time out with a 5-0 demolition of Crystal Palace on Saturday. Next up is a tricky trip away to Nottingham Forest, but who knows whether this surprise stadium event could offer a boost at the right time before Tuesday's visit to the City Ground.
Mirror Football has contacted Arsenal for comment over the official reasoning behind the early stadium closure and the Gunners have explained that the ground is closing for "internal commercial activity".
