Fortnite has its first update of 2024. and with all the new modes introduced at the end of last year, there are a lot of patch notes to get through!

Fortnite servers were down this morning for the game's first update of 2024, and Epic has rolled out a bunch of the fixes listed in the early patch notes, as well as introducing some new content to battle royale, Lego Fortnite, and Rocket Racing modes.

In terms of the core Battle Royale and Zero Build modes, Metal Gear Solid is the star of the show. To go alongside the Solid Snake Battle Pass Skin, Epic has introduced two new items from the premiere stealth series; Solid Snake's EMP Stealth Camo which will conceal you and allow you to sneak around freely (and deactivating it sends out an EMP which is sure to fry enemy shields); and of course, you can't have Metal Gear without the iconic Cardboard Box which will help you blend into the environment like the master of stealth himself.

Lego Fortnite is bringing over launch pads from the regular Fortnite because people just love bouncing and gliding their way around the map – and it's much quicker than boring old feet. You can also attach it to the dynamic foundation, which you need the recipe for if you plan on building any vehicles. There are more Lego Styles so you if you own any of the Outfits listed in the Fortnite patch notes below, their Lego Styles will be waiting in your Locker. And some existing Lego Styles have gotten an upgrade in the form of higher detailed models. These will replace the OG ones for now, but as of late February, you'll be able to choose between both options.

The Fortnite Rocket Racing update isn't quite as hefty as the Lego Fortnite patch notes, with the main highlights being the two new Advanced tracks, and the introduction of the Trails Locker item; you can use it to customise your car , and once the cross-game ownership update rolls out, any Trails you own in Rocket League will be useable in Fortnite and vice versa. The Fortnite-original Drift Smoke Trail is the first to join the Locker, with more coming to the Item Shop over time. And if you complete Season Zero Tune Up Quests by 5am GMT / 12am EST on March 26 (9pm PST, March 25) you'll unlock different paint colors for the Drift Smoke Trail.

We've listed all of the Fortnite patch notes for Battle Royale, Lego Fortnite, and Rocket Racing below so you can delve into them yourself, but those are all of the major highlights.

Fortnite patch notes for update V28.10

Here are the Fortnite patch notes for Battle Royale and Competitive taken from the Epic blog post.

Battle Royale update V28.10

  • Return of Anvil Rocket Launcher
  • Super Level Styles added to Big Bang Battle Pas bonus rewards including Expressionist, Prismatic Terazzo, and Glasswork Styles of the Oscar, Nisha, Montague, Valeria, and Hope Outfits.

  • Cardboard Box added – can be found from the ground, Chests, or for sale from Snake in exchange for Bars

  • EMP Stealth Camo – can be found from the ground, Chests, or if you have the Bars, from Snake himself.

Balance Changes

We’ve been closely monitoring Battle Royale gameplay data and community feedback and agreed that some balance adjustments needed to be made. Please see below for a list of balance changes that are included in the v28.10 update:

  • The Enforcer AR has received a slight increase in bullet speed, damage, and headshot damage (and a reduction in bullet drop). This AR was lagging and needed a boost to compete with other weapon options.

  • The Reaper Sniper Rifle has received a slight reduction in bullet speed (and an increase in bullet drop), as many Reaper snipes were too easy to land with little counterplay.

  • The Hyper SMG has received an increase in overall accuracy via tightened bullet spread. Like the Enforcer AR, this SMG was lagging and needed a boost to compete with other weapon options.

  • The Ballistic Shield has received a slight decrease in damage required to stagger the holder. This loadout option was often too powerful compared to others, especially in Zero Build.

  • Storm circle speed, sprint speed, and Energy regeneration have been reverted to match the same speed from Chapter 4. These reverted speeds better fit the current ideal pace of Fortnite BR.

We’ll continue to monitor gameplay data alongside community feedback and make future balance adjustments if necessary.

Competitive Notes
  • The EMP Stealth Camo, Cardboard Boxes, and Anvil Rocket Launcher are not included in tournaments.

Major Bug Fixes
  • Fixed an issue where players could sometimes be randomly eliminated in Snooty Steppes while walking along the cliffside.

  • Fixed an issue that could cause your crosshair to flick in another direction while you were sliding and aiming down sights with a scoped Sniper Rifle.
