'Modest' tradwife sparks uproar after confessing she 'serves' her husband

A woman has sparked debate after sharing an insight into her "calling" in life as a traditional wife lead by "modesty" and religion.

Mum Ashley, from the US, dedicates her time to taking care of her husband, her child, and her home, and hates buying baked goods or bread from the store. While her husband spends much of his time away in the military, her job is to look after their son and look after the house. As she "hates" store-bought baked goods and supermarket bread, she makes her own from scratch most days and dedicates spare hours to bible studying.

Ashley, who calls herself a 'tradwife' - or traditional wife - said: "The way you keep your house, the way you organise your time, the care you take in your personal appearance, and the things you spend your money on all speak loudly about what you believe in."

The housewife, who does not own a pair of jogging bottoms and only wears long dresses and an apron, has raked in over four million views on her TikTok page @herblessedhome where she shares faith, family, homemaking, and modesty. "The best way I can serve my family is by cultivating a loving home," she added.

In a recent clip, Ashley responded to one of her 85,000 followers who asked exactly how she "serves" her partner. Ashley explained she "gets up with him before work", "lets him sleep in", "takes care of his laundry, cooks his favourite foods, makes his coffee, and always asks for his opinion".

Before her husband comes home from work Ashley makes sure she makes him a coffee, prepares his dinner, puts out clean clothes for him, makes her hair look nice, and tidies up the house. Ashley said: "Who said traditional gender roles are bad? I'm over here living my best life."

Her lifestyle and honesty have sparked debate and divided a lot of people who watch her videos. "If it works for you I think that is great not my thing," one individual said. Another added: "You’re not expected to be your husband's mum. You can do those things if you want to. Not bare minimum."

One other wrote: "Traditional gender roles are not bad. But equally, they are not for everyone! I love my family and my work. I still make family and home a priority."

Applauding Ashley, one commented: "This makes me so happy to see young women still doing this. Way to go! So happy for your family." "This is beautiful. I aspire to be like this one day," said another.

Another TikTok user said: "Forever inspired by the ways you choose to serve your marriage and family. You have such a beautiful servant's heart."
