Peloton star Cody Rigsby has savaged Rishi Sunak over his views after he claimed to love his Britney Spears workouts.

The Prime Minister has boasted about how he is a keen follower of the American fitness instructor. He told a podcast in 2021: “He is definitely my long-time favourite, which means you have to listen to a lot of Britney. But you know, no bad thing in trying to get you motivated.”

But Mr Sunak has been left embarrassed after Mr Rigsby used an interview to denounce his attitude towards trans people. He told The Times that it was “cool” for “someone with so much political clout and power within one of the biggest economic powerhouses in the whole world” to enjoy his workouts.

But he added: “I don’t agree with some of the stuff he said about gender recently, but that’s on him, you know. Whatever.” It is thought he was referring to the PM’s speech to the Conservative Party conference in October when he said: “We shouldn’t get bullied into believing that people can be any sex they want to be. They can’t. A man is a man and a woman is a woman — that’s just common sense.”

Mr Rigbsy added: “I… kind of find it hard that a man starts his day working out to a flamboyant gay man, rocking and riding to Britney Spears and Beyoncé, has such a narrow view on gender.”

Asked if he thinks asylum seekers arriving in the UK should be sent to Rwanda, Mr Rigsby said: “Absolutely not… What is that? Is that a thing that’s happening? Oh, that’s way above my pay grade. I don’t know s**t about that, babe. You can deport people to Rwanda? How does that even work? Is Rwanda a British colony? That makes no sense.”

Questioned on Brexit, the Peloton star said: “I still don’t understand it, to be honest. I’m like, OK. But hey, I’m going to let you guys make your own decisions.”

Since becoming PM in October 2022, Mr Sunak has admitted that his exercise regime has slipped. As he took part in a 10km race in his constituency in North Yorkshire last year, the 43-year-old told fellow participants: “I haven't done any exercise in a long time.”
