Naming your baby is no small feat, and naming your son after the king of rock and roll gives them pretty big shoes to fill - but that isn't stopping plucky parents who are opting for the name 'Elvis'.

In December 2023, BabyCentre revealed the top 100 girls' and boys' names for 2023 alongside some of the trends that have been popular over the whole year. And it turns out that musical icon names are really about to take off - but there could be good reason for the rising popularity of the moniker Elvis, in particular.

It's not unusual for parents to be inspired by their heroes when it comes to choosing a baby name, and for some new mums and dads, that will mean looking to music legends with rockstar names for their bundles of joy.

In 2024, Nameberry experts have predicted a rise in popularity for names such as Cobain, Joni, Ozzy, Nirvana, and Joplin. They also believe Elvis will see an increase in registrations, thanks in part to the biopics Elvis, released in 2022, and Priscilla, released this year.

Also, Elvis is set to be brought back to life thanks to an AI immersive show, which is set to be similar to the hugely successful Abba Voyage. The iconic star will be brought back to life through the power of AI with the brand new show Elvis Evolution, which will feature holographic projections of the singer created from a collection of personal photos and home video footage.

Elvis Evolution will open in London in November later this year before moving to Las Vegas, Berlin, and Tokyo, and it is thought that its influence could cause an influx of babies with the name of the popular crooner.

Andrew McGuinness, founder and chief executive of Layered Reality, said: "Elvis Evolution is a next-generation tribute to the musical legend that is Elvis Presley. Elvis maintains superstar status globally and people around the world no longer want to sit there and passively receive entertainment - they want to be a part of it."

Elvis died, aged 42, on 16 August 1977 at his Graceland home in Memphis, Tennessee, so this concert is set to come 47 years after his death.

Despite music legends' names potentially rising in popularity throughout 2024, baby name trends in 2023 saw many celebrity names fall out of favour with parents. The release of Prince Harry's memoir, Spare, saw the name Harry plummet down to 31st place after once being a mainstay of the top 20. There were also fewer registrations for Meghan, Charles, and William.

Meanwhile, Jada Pinkett-Smith's divisive tell-all, Worthy, saw registrations of babies named Jada drop, and this could have also contributed to the fall in boys named William or Will, after Will Smith.

Less controversial celebrities in 2023 have still proven popular among parents though, with memoirs released by Dolly Parton and Patrick Stewart contributing to a boost in registrations for both monikers.
