Cricketer dies on pitch from heart attack while batting after players tried CPR
A man has died after suffering a heart attack while playing in a cricket match.
The incident occurred in India during a game between Mavericks XI and Blazing Bulls, as batsman Vikas Negi collapsed during the 14th over of the Mavericks XI's innings. Footage showed Negi walking up towards the wicket to congratulate batting partner Umesh Kumar, who had just hit a four.
As Kumar approached his team-mate to touch bats, Negi, 34, dropped suddenly to the ground and left spectators in panic. Players from both sides were also left shocked, with some rushing to his aid and attempting CPR to try and revive Negi.
The 34-year-old was held up in a seating position and soon rushed to a nearby hospital in a car. Tragically, though, Negi was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Before collapsing, he scored seven runs from his six balls faced, with the Mavericks scoreboard racking up 143 runs for five wickets after 13.5 overs. The match - which was being broadcast live on YouTube - had set a target of 184 for the Bulls to chase after scoring 183 for 9 after 19.2 overs.

It was later decided that the the S&B India Annual Cricket Tournament match would be the abandoned following Negi's passing. His death comes just over a fortnight before England travel to India for a hotly-anticipated Test series.
