Andrew Tate has revealed he is "disappointed" at the decision not to overturn his 30-day detention in Romania.

Controversial ex-kickboxer Tate was detained by Romanian anti-organised crime agency DIICOT last month as part of a criminal investigation into alleged rape, human trafficking and forming of an organised crime group. Tate and his high-profile sibling were detained alongside two unnamed female suspects in Romania while an investigation is conducted.

All four suspects including Tate appealed against the decision to extend their detainment for 30 days, but news broke last night that Tate's appeal had been turned down with the detention upheld. Tate broke his silence on social media after confirmation that the plea had been rejected, tweeting: "When Allah said ‘I test only those I love.’ I took the pain like it was an honour - Abu Hurayrah."

In an official statement released following the news, a spokesperson for the Tate brothers has said: "Andrew and Tristan are disappointed in the decision; however, they remain confident that their truth will be heard. Andrew and Tristan vehemently deny all accusations made against them. They do not condone violence towards women or agree with any coercive behaviour.

"Social media is an extremely powerful tool in today's society. The use of viral, satirical comments and videos across social media has led some of the public to believe fictitious allegations against the Tate brothers.

"Social media has connected people worldwide at the touch of a button; however, it is important to remember that everything you see and read online should be taken with caution and more profound research. Andrew and Tristan are thankful for the monumental amount of online support they have received.”

Both of the Tate brothers have maintained their innocence throughout and denied any wrongdoing via their lawyer Eugen Vidineac. The pair were taken in handcuffs away from their property and prosecutors have insisted that the pair be kept in detention for 180 days while authorities continue their inquiries.

Tate has achieved unprecedented fame alongside his sibling for their controversial views which have gained notoriety on social media, particularly his opinions on women which many have accused of being "misogynistic" and "dangerous". However when providing Tate's defence during the trial, Vidineac claimed that they should not be used as evidence in court as he says they do not prove any statements about his character in real life.

Mr Vidineac wrote on Twitter: "Even up to the present moment, the criminal investigation file has not been made available to us to ensure the effective defence of our clients. In this sense, I would like to point out, at least from this point of view, I am also somehow amazed, there is not a single piece of evidence apart from the victim's statement that leads to the idea that a crime of rape was committed.

"In my view, there is no evidence to support the formation of an opinion of reasonable suspicion regarding the commission of offences provided for and punishable by criminal law. In this case we are talking about human trafficking and organised crime."
