Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton have reportedly have "heated" rows, a royal expert has said in new claims.

Journalist Robert Jobson also claimed he had been told by aides that the Prince of Wales can be a "bit of a shouter". The royal couple have been married for almost 11 years and will celebrate their wedding anniversary on April 29.

The former courtier said: "They both have quite extreme mood swings, just as Diana did. She could be your best friend one minute and the next your worst enemy." It was also claimed William has a "notably short fuse." A close royal aide was also said to have revealed to Jobson: "He can be a bit of a shouter when he loses it."

"It’s fair to say the Prince and the Princess give as good as they get if their disagreement results in raised voices. But they know each other so well, it usually blows over quickly – and she is, on the whole, a major calming influence on him", the aide told the Daily Mail.

Looking back at the transformation of their relationship, and how it differs from other royals, Darren Stanton on behalf of Betfair Bingo believes their relationship has "really developed" from childhood sweethearts to senior royals. But that doesn't mean that they haven't maintained their "playfulness and mischievousness."

He said: "William and Kate are a very strong couple, and their relationship has continued to evolve and grow even stronger over the years. They started off as independent students who found true love. They were sweethearts, and we still see that side to them now. An important thing I have seen over the years is that both their levels of confidence and independence - in public and private - have really developed. We have never seen senior members of the royal family be so affectionate with one another in the public eye. If we look back at photographs of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, we would never have seen them holding hands or being tactile with each other.

"This shows how in tune William and Kate are with each other on an emotional level. They’re also not afraid to be open and honest through their body gestures about how they feel. They've really broken the mould, and there's a level of humour, playfulness and mischievousness to them when they want to be - which is really refreshing to see."

However, these moments are few and far between, with the Prince and Princess prioritising their duties.
