Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are 'way behind where they wanted to be'
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are "way behind where they wanted to be", according to sources who say the Duchess fears "unmitigated disaster".
The former working royals had a turbulent 2023 and are reportedly hoping for a "much better" 2024, eyeing up a new home and career progression in Hollywood. Last year saw the axing of Meghan's podcast on Spotify, Harry's memoir Spare and the couple's eye-opening, explosive self-tilted documentary series on Netflix, Harry & Meghan.
Meghan is reportedly "frustrated" at her and Harry's "lack of progress" and is thought to have told the Duke that he needs to "step up" and that "things need to get better". The insider claimed: "Meghan and Harry are talking a good game for 2024, but they’re way behind where they wanted to be at this stage of their journey."

Meghan and Harry had a turbulent year in 2023 (Netflix)"Apart from The Tig [Meghan's lifestyle blog], which will cost them a fortune to roll out if and when it does happen, they don’t have a huge amount in the pipeline," they told Heat Magazine. "There's certainly nothing that could compare to the $100m Netflix deal that was supposed to be their ticket to billionaire status."

Meghan is thought to be upset by the "hostility" towards them and hopes this year will being much better news. "This year is make or break for them, and Meghan’s told Harry to step up," the royal source claimed. "So far, it’s been her doing the lion's share of the networking, and she's stressed – largely because so many deals have fallen apart."
The Duke and Duchess are "fighting to keep their brand alive", says the insider who cited the pair's "crazy high-living expenses". They are thought to be relocating soon, leaving behind their £11million Montecito mansion where they live with Archie, four, and Lilibet, two – as they reportedly eye up a £6.3million property in Malibu. The Mirror has contacted Harry and Meghan's representatives for comment.
It comes after claims Meghan and Harry are left wondering why they need to follow "different rules" to other members of the Royal Family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are thought to be confused by Sarah, the Duchess of York, appearing on ITV shows including Lorraine and This Morning. Her daytime telly antics are thought to create some 'misunderstanding' for the former working royals, claims a royal expert.
Commentator Neil Sean says Meghan and Harry simply "don't understand" why Fergie can sell books and advertise "under the Royal Family", and they can't. Taking to his YouTube channel, Neil questioned the Duchess of York's new career in TV.
"The thing that really riles Meghan is that Fergie pops up on things like the ITV daytime show This Morning, Loose Women and billing herself as the Duchess of York, selling books and possibly doing adverts all under the Royal Family," he explained. "Meghan and Harry seemingly don't understand why it's a different rule for her."
