Meghan Markle "has lots to say" but has been warned by one PR expert that 2024 is not the year for her to pen a memoir.

The Duchess of Sussex, 42, is rumoured to be considering putting pen to paper for a tell-all memoir, with speculation rife since her husband released his book Spare back in January. This comes as the Sussexes continue to work with Penguin Random House amid their book deal.

The book deal that the couple has is for four books with the publisher. Meghan has already written The Bench which came out in June 2021, and Prince Harry has already penned his memoir Spare. The couple is also rumoured to be working on a third book together, a wellness book, with the fourth rumoured to be a memoir by Meghan.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Lynn Carratt from Press Box PR has lifted the lid on the rumours surrounding a memoir by Meghan, from a public relations perspective. Lynn noted that there have been rumours for some time that Meghan had been penning her memoir, adding: "I am sure that is still the plan and it will form part of their deal with Penguin, but timing is everything and 2024 wouldn’t be the right time for its release".

Lynn went on to say that the public has been "overloaded with stories" about the ins and outs of the couple’s lives, hinting that they could have grown tired of hearing about them.

"There are many things Meghan will want to say and put her side across about," Lynn affirmed, continuing: "She’ll want [to] talk [about] her marriage to Harry, her relationship with King Charles and Camilla, Kate and William. I’m sure fans would like her to talk about her relationship with her father Thomas, but she isn’t that forthcoming about that side of her life."

Lynn went on to add: "However, many are still reeling from and discussing the contents of Harry’s best-selling memoir Spare. Then the couple faced backlash again at the end of the year with the release of Omid Scobie’s Endgame with its revelations stirring up old debates."

Concluding her expert analysis, Lynn said: "If Meghan is sensible, she will be looking for a quieter time in 2024, it’s time for her [to] take [a] step back from her association with the Royal Family and give that rift time to heal quietly. She can then quietly concentrate on her Philanthropy work. There will be a time in the future when an autobiography will be relevant, but not now."
