Emmerdale fans were left disappointed following the heartbreaking exit storyline of Jessie Elland, who played Chloe Harris.

For two years, Jessie kept fans glued to their screens as she was embroiled in a number of gripping storylines including being stalked by Noah Dingle and realising Kerry Wyatt was her biological mother. But her most exciting storyline came after Chloe fell pregnant following a one night-stand with Charity Dingle's husband Mackenzie Boyd.

However, Charity chose to forgive Mack and rekindle their marriage, leaving Chloe devastated. Last night [26 Dec], after Charity shot Chloe's father Harry, she soon turned it to her advantage by saying she would lie to the police and say it was murder, unless Mack let her leave the village for good with their son.

After giving Mack an ultimatum to Mack to either chose his son Reuben or Charity - he chose Charity. And it was at this point Chloe allowed Mack to say a final goodbye to his son and drive out of the village. However, fans were not impressed with the way Emmerdale bosses dealt with Chloe's exit.

Taking to the ITV soap's official Instagram page, one fan wrote: "Goodbye Jessie, you played your character brilliantly, didn’t like the ending which was written for you though. We would have all liked a happy one." Another person said: "Fantastic actress, shame u are leaving, all the best for the future xx"

A third commented: "Wishing you well for the future I didn’t like the storyline where you left with Ruben and no consideration for the father of the baby. You should never use a baby to get your way." Speaking of her time on the show, Jessie penned: "I’ve had the best two years of my life playing Chloe and being a part of Emmerdale. Over those two years it never got any less surreal to walk through the stage door at studios or to be stood outside the Woolpack at the village."

She added: "I feel so privileged to have been given this opportunity and to have been trusted with such wonderful storylines. I really got to tick off the soap bingo card; giving birth, discovering new family members, a big stunt, a soapy slap, and even a classic back of the taxi exit! All while working with, and learning from, incredibly talented people that I’d grown up watching on screen. "

Jessie continued: "I’m sure you’ve heard other cast members say that being in Emmerdale is like being part of a big family but it couldn’t be more true. The cast and crew of Emmerdale are some of the nicest people I’ve ever been lucky enough to meet, and they all made Emmerdale feel like a second home to me.What made my time at Emmerdale even more rewarding has been the reaction of the viewers to Chloe and her storylines."

The star went on to say that one of the most special moments of being on the show is how much it means to viewers, as it makes her "feel so proud and lucky" to be a "small part of something so loved." She added: "It's really difficult to articulate how much Emmerdale means to me and it was by no means an easy decision to leave such a wonderful place and such wonderful people, I’m going to miss it so much, but I feel unbelievably lucky to be coming away with amazing memories and friends for life!"
