Coronation Street viewers devastated as fan-favourite fooled into leaving
Coronation Street fans were heartbroken after fan-favourite character Ryan Connor was tricked into leaving the cobbles this month.
Ryan is played by Ryan Prescott in the series. The character first appeared on screens in 2006 and was initially portrayed by Ben Thompson. When Ryan returned in 2012, it was recast to actor Sol Heras before Ryan Prescott took over in 2018. The character was living the good life when he got a social media job in a gym.
He decided to stay in Weatherfield despite an offer to move to Scotland with his girlfriend Crystal. Staying close to affair partner Daisy Midgley was a small reason he decided to stay but things turned sour when Daisy's partner Daniel Osbourne found out about the true nature of their relationship.
When Ryan celebrated getting his new job, Daniel decided to intervene and meddle. He rushed to the gym and told the manager about Ryan's use of steroids as well as his other suspicious activities, ultimately warning the manager that hiring Ryan would be a mistake for the gym.
Ryan was tricked into leaving the cobblesRyan was fired before he even had the chance to start and decided to start a new life with Crystal. He told her the job didn't work out and omitted the truth. He told her: “It’s a non-starter. Weatherfield’s not for me, not anymore. I need a fresh start, a new challenge. I reckon we make a pretty good team…”

An unsuspecting but happy Crystal said: "Are you messing? We make an amazing team! Glasgow here we come!” Daniel was over the moon upon hearing the success of his revenge plan. His pal Debbie Webster urged him to reconsider leaving everything for Glasgow.
Debbie had asked: "Why are you going to Glasgow with someone you barely know? Running away won’t solve anything." As she brought up his feelings for Daisy, he told her it was never going to work out for them.

If you’re not truly committed to her that’s an accident waiting to happen." Ryan told her: "I need this and I want a fresh start and I am gonna have it. I'm leaving regardless of what you or anyone else thinks."
Meanwhile, fans were upset that Ryan would be leaving the cobbles and rushed to social media to discuss it. "So, in Ryan and Crystal’s last episode he only gets two scenes and she doesn’t appear at all?!" one said.
"Would Daniel be looking so smug about Ryan going away with Crystal if he knew Daisy had told him that she loves them both?" one user said while another added: "Daniel should focus on Daisy and her wishy-washy behaviour, not making Ryan’s life a misery. At the end of the day, Daisy leads him on."
"Ryan can’t be gone from #Corrie forever??? Like that - See ya?? At least let him stroll down the cobbles in a pair of short shorts or something! Can’t let a good-looking and interesting character go like that," one viewer commented.
