Woman branded 'stalker' for buying partner's family thoughtful Xmas gifts
A seemingly thoughtful woman was branded a 'stalker' by her partner's family after she apparently overstepped the mark with Christmas presents.
In a Reddit post from last Christmas, she told the forum how she had intended to show them her appreciation, especially as it was her first Christmas with them and she was also engaged to her partner, Noah. In addition, they were expecting a child together.
She wrote: "I'm engaged to Noah and this was the first Christmas I spent with his family. I met them in the summer after we moved to be near his family now that he's finished with college. We're getting married in February and we're expecting our first child together in May."

She went on to reveal that she had "no family" herself and wanted to make a gift that each of Noah's family members would love. The then-mum-to-be added: "One of his sisters loves to read and so I made a book sleeve for her with little details from all her favorite books. One of his nieces is on the spectrum and has wanted clothes for her stuffy, so I made some clothes for her to put on the stuffy."

Other gifts included a jewellery box for the mum that she wanted and a big photo frame for the dad's office to put a family picture in. While Noah's brother received a signed piece of memorabilia from his favorite sports team and his other sister got some of her favourite make-up. The nieces and nephews were also given presents.
However, the generous gifting backfired even though Noah himself thought they would be well received. She wrote: "But when Christmas Day happened I could tell something was off. I spent the whole time worrying that I had bought them stuff they didn't like anymore or something.
"They said nothing. But then the next day they asked Noah what the hell I was thinking and I was like some kind of stalker buying them such personal stuff when I'm an almost stranger to them." One of the sisters even called her a stalker to her face and said it was "no wonder" her family didn't want her doing "creepy" things like that.
The family's unexpected response caused Noah to shout at his family and demand they give his partner an apology. Around 5,000 people replied to the post in full support of the woman. One person was amazed at the family's behaviour and wrote: "They sound like miserable people. Sorry that happened to you. It's 100% them, not you."
Another exclaimed: "What the heck is wrong with these people? They'd rather get an impersonal gift they don't care about??" and someone else added: "Seriously, what you did was so very sweet. You didn’t deserve that kind of cruelty."
While the 'stalker' tag was brushed away by one user who said: "There gifts are not remotely "stalker" territory... These are sweet, appropriate, personalised gifts to the recipient. And you're not a stranger to them. They're going to be your in-laws... You did nothing wrong. They should be apologizing to you."
