Prince Harry "roared" at his wife Meghan Markle's royal-inspired Christmas present a few years ago, with the Duke of Sussex writing about the hilarious moment in his book, Spare.

The Duke of Sussex, 39, released his bombshell memoir at the start of the year. And within the confines of the hotly-anticipated tome, the father-of-two wrote candidly about his life as a Prince and what it was like growing up in the British Royal Family.

Harry also touched on much of his life since departing the UK and stepping down as a senior royal, with him writing about his home life with his wife Meghan, whom he married in 2018 during a televised wedding ceremony in Windsor.

In his book, Harry recalled a sweet moment from his family’s first Christmas in California, which came almost one year after announcing they were stepping down as senior working royals, and four months after moving across the pond to Montecito.

Celebrating the holidays in California after having relocated to Meghan's home state with their son Prince Archie, Harry spoke about the trio's cosy Christmas Eve. "It was Christmas Eve. We FaceTimed with several friends, including a few in Britain. We watched Archie running around the tree. And we opened presents. Keeping to the Windsor family tradition."

He then spoke about one of the presents he unwrapped when he recalled: "One present was a little Christmas ornament of… the Queen! I roared. What the—? Meg had spotted it in a local store and thought I might like it."

Continuing to reminisce over the moment, Harry went on: "I held it to the light. It was Granny’s face to a T. I hung it on an eye-level branch. It made me happy to see her there."

Harry then touched on how the ornament, which looked exactly like his granny, the late Queen, didn't last long after his young son broke it by accident. Writing in his book, Harry went on: "But then Archie, playing around the tree, jostled the stand, shook the tree, and Granny fell. I heard a smash and turned. Pieces lay all over the floor.

"Archie ran and grabbed a spray bottle. For some reason, he thought spraying water on the broken pieces would fix it. Meg said: No, Archie, no — do not spray Gan-Gan! I grabbed a dustpan and swept up the pieces, all the while thinking: This is weird."
