Body found in River Tay in search for missing woman Clare Marshall
Police searching for a missing woman who vanished earlier this week have recovered a body from a river.
Clare Marshall, 64, disappeared in the early hours of Monday, December 18, after leaving an area of Perth, Scotland, after walking to Moncreiffe Island near the River Tay. A massive search, including a helicopter and mountain rescue teams, was launched to help track down the 64-year-old. However, a spokesman has today confirmed a body has been found. Although she is yet to be identified, officers believe it is of missing Clare.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.50pm on Thursday, a woman’s body was recovered from the River Tay, near Moncreiffe Island. No formal identification has taken place, however, officers believe the woman to be Clare Marshall, who was reported missing from Perth on Monday.
“Officers have informed her family. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.”
A huge search took place over the last week near the River Tay. The tragic find comes after the search for Gaynor Lord, 55, also ended in tragic circumstances as her body was found in a river in Norwich last week.
