When it comes to Christmas dinner essentials, stuffing is often considered a top tier item - but many Brits opt for pre-made varieties which contain high amounts of sodium.

Fortunately, professional chef Aaron Middleton has shared his simple recipe for homemade 'meaty' stuffing on TikTok, and it’s easier than you might think. The mouthwatering dish boasts a combination of edible ingredients, including breadcrumbs, herbs, and sausagemeat, which pair perfectly with the traditional turkey.

It seems the nation’s devotion for the meaty food holds strong, as 78 percent believe that the festive meal is not complete without stuffing. If you’re got stuffing on your Christmas shopping list this year, then why not impress friends and family with this delicious recipe.

Ingredients

  • One onion
  • Two cloves of garlic
  • 400g sausage
  • 30g butter
  • 100g fresh breadcrumbs
  • 100g chopped chestnuts
  • 30g sage (finely sliced)
  • 30g parsley (finely sliced)
  • 10g garlic powder
  • 3g dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper

Kitchen equipment

  • Chopping board
  • Knife
  • Saucepan
  • Oven
  • Spatula
  • Metal bowl
  • Small bowl
  • Baking tray
  • Gloves

Method

  • To start making the succulent stuffing balls, finely chop the onion and garlic on a chopping board. Then, add the sliced vegetables into a saucepan over a medium heat, along with the butter and a “good” pinch of salt and pepper. Sweat the ingredients for around five to 10-minutes, until soft and translucent.
  • Place the sausage meat in a metal bowl, with the breadcrumbs, chestnuts, sweated onion and garlic, sage, parsley, garlic powder, dried oregano, and another pinch of salt and pepper.
  • Using a gloved hand, mix the ingredients together until fully combined. Once completed, remove the gloves and fill a small bowl with cold water. Wet your hands with the water and roll the mixture into stuffing balls.
  • Place on a baking tray and roast in the oven at around 185°C for 20 to 25-minutes. Then serve and enjoy!

Followers rushed to the comments section to share their reaction to the seasonal dish, as one user gushed: "Made these today and they went down soooooo well!" Another shared: "Yassss, been looking for a good sage, onion, sausage stuffing recipe," while a third penned: "Ahhhh THANK YOU! I’ve just moved to Canada and they don’t have stuffing here!"
