Liverpool and West Ham clash on Wednesday evening with a place in the Carabao Cup semi-finals at stake.

The Reds welcome the Hammers to Anfield having last won the competition the end of the 2021/22 season, where they defeated Chelsea at Wembley on penalties. Jurgen Klopp’s side have so far overcome Leicester and Bournemouth to reach the quarter-finals.

After an early goal for Enzo Maresca’s side in the third round, Liverpool roared back thanks to strikes from Cody Gakpo, Dominik Szoboszlai and Diogo Jota. They then secured a 2-1 win over Bournemouth - Gakpo and Darwin Nunez scoring either side of Justin Kluivert’s effort.

Meanwhile, West Ham squeezed past Lincoln to reach the fourth round, where they were given a tricky draw against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. David Moyes’ side turned in a hugely impressive performance to win 3-1 at the London Stadium, with a Ben White own goal and strikes from Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen securing a comfortable win before a Martin Odegaard consolation.

West Ham have not reached the semi-finals since the 2013/14 campaign and are yet to go all the way in the competition despite two final appearances. It looks like supporters are in line for a cracking game at Anfield.
