Asda has issued a warning to shoppers as there is not long left to claim discounts from their Christmas Cashpots.

The supermarket chain has reminded customers that they only have until December 31 to convert their Asda Rewards Christmas Saver Cashpot into vouchers. Asda's Christmas Saver Cashpot feature first launched in August and rewarded customers with a bonus for saving their Asda Rewards pounds to spend during the festive period - the maximum you were able to save in your Christmas Cashpot was £300.

The amount you received as a bonus depended on how much you transferred over to your Christmas Cashpot with the biggest bonus being £5. If you moved between £10 and £19 into your Cashpot you would get a £1 bonus, those moving £20 to £24 would get a £2, £25 to £39 would get you a £3 bonus, whilst those with over £40 will get £5. These bonuses were paid back in November.

Asda says the average voucher created is £20 which customers have been redeeming to reduce their grocery bill and help them to prepare for the big day. The supermarket chain says 1.2million people have already created vouchers from their Christmas Cashpots. Alongside this, 1.3million customers have earned over £4million in bonus payments for saving Asda Rewards pounds in their Christmas Saver Cashpot.

To create a voucher, customers must go to the wallet section of the Asda Rewards app and select "Create Voucher” and then confirm the amount they’d like to spend from their Christmas Saver Cashpot.

Alongside this, any new customer who signs up for an Asda Rewards account before Christmas Day on Monday, 25 December will receive a £5 off coupon for their first shop. They then have until Sunday, December 31 to complete their second shop to receive an additional £5 in their Cashpot.

The Asda Rewards is an app-based loyalty scheme and claims it's about "pounds, not points". The vouchers can be created with just £1, with the maximum voucher amount at £100. So, the more someone shops at Asda, the more their Cashpot will build on the Asda app. To get the points you scan the app at the checkout or you can link it up to your online Asda account. More than seven million shoppers have used the Asda Rewards app since its launch and have earned over £300million in their Cashpots.
