PSG star and family 'kidnapped at knifepoint' during terrifying burglary

Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Alexandre Letellier and his young family were attacked by burglars in the early hours of Tuesday morning, according to reports.

Letellier, his wife and their two children - aged two and six - were kidnapped and held at knifepoint, French outlet RMC report. While demanding money and jewellery, it has been claimed that the attackers hit Letellier's wife, Chloe, in the face.

Fortunately for the terrified family, police officers were able to swiftly intervene following the incident at their home in Yvelines, northern France. Three of the four intruders were arrested by authorities, the report adds.

It's said that Letellier, 33, and wife Chloe were woken up around 2am on Tuesday when a security alarm at their house was triggered. The attackers had already made their way into the garden by the time the police were called. One officer suffered a knee injury while at the scene, although three intruders were still caught and have since been placed in police custody.

Frenchman Letellier is PSG's third-choice goalkeeper and yet to make an appearance for the Ligue 1 champions during the 2023-24 season. The 33-year-old has only played two games since joining the club from Orleans on a free transfer in the summer of 2020.

Letellier was given 10 minutes as a substitute on the final day of last season, as the French giants suffered a surprise 3-2 loss at home to Clermont Foot, who this term sit bottom of the table. The Paris-born goalkeeper was given the same role on the final day of the previous campaign, being subbed on during PSG's 5-0 victory over Metz.

Having began his career with the Parisian club, Letellier made 14 appearances for PSG's B team before spending a decade with Angers. His 10-year stay, in which he made 47 first-team appearances and played 36 games for the reserve team, included loan spells with Swiss side Young Boys, French outfit Troyes and Norwegian club Sarpsborg before a brief stint with Orleans.

Letellier was handed a new two-year contract when his deal had been due to expire in 2022. He was recently on the bench for PSG's 1-1 draw with Lille on Sunday and has played backup in a number of Champions League fixtures this term.

The goalkeeper told PSG TV upon returning to the Parc des Princes: "It's an incredible moment! was at the youth academy here for 10 years without ever signing a professional contract. And 10 years later, I'm back to be part of the first team. It's a great feeling."
