Tiger Woods insists he can still win on the PGA Tour but will only play once a month through 2024 as he recovers from injury.

The 15-time Major winner recently underwent ankle surgery and has played a limited schedule since suffering a leg injury in a car crash in 2021. Woods will turn 48 in late December but, more than 25 years after his first major victory, has no doubt he can challenge for tournament victories.

He may have limited opportunities over the next 12 months as he carefully chooses which events he plays, but despite the constant emergence of new talent is confident he can still mix it with the best.

Woods said: "If I'm able to practise and do the things I know I can do, and prepare, I know I can still do it. I can still hit the golf ball. It's just a matter of prepping and get enough reps in and get enough work in and being right physically, and the endurance capability of it.

"I haven't had the leg good enough where I've been able to compete and play a lot of rounds. I can still hit the golf ball. I can still chip. I can still putt. Granted it's also putting it all together for 72 holes. That's the challenging part of it."

Woods last won on the PGA Tour at the Zozo Championship in Japan back in 2019. That victory saw him equal Sam Snead's record of 82 Tour victories. He insists his ankle continues to hold up, although he did need to use a golf cart at the PNC Championship - which he is not allowed to do on the PGA Tour.

"A lot of things are aching a lot more than my ankle, which is the way it goes," said Woods. "We've been working out hard, been able to recover. We've been training every day, which is great. It's been nice to knock off a lot of the rust and some of the doubt that I've had because, quite frankly, I haven't hit a shot that counted in a long time."

Woods' last major success came at Augusta when he claimed a fifth Masters title in 2019. That victory ended an 11-year wait between majors, but he's since failed to make the top 20.

The golfing great has also spoken on the constant speculation linking him with a sensational split from Nike, whom he's been with for the majority of his career, earning huge sums as a result. Woods said: "I'm still wearing their product" before refusing to be drawn further.
