Woman gobsmacked after husband makes bizarre food confession after 15 years

After more than a decade of being married to someone, you'd think that you were aware of all your partner's quirks. However, one wife took to an online forum to reveal that her husband has been less than honest about his lunches - for the past 15 years. In a post on DC Urban Moms and Dads last week, entitled 'Why, after all this time, would he tell me this now?', the mum was left bemused by her other half's confession concerning leftovers.

She explained: "Last night [dear husband] confessed, after 15 years of marriage and leftovers, that he actually doesn’t like leftovers. Oddly enough, he’s been willingly eating them (as in, pulling them from the fridge to eat) when he’s home and hungry, and packing them for himself for lunch."

The poster then went on to describe how a conversation with their daughter led to her husband confessing his displeasure at leftovers. She wrote: "For whatever reason, last night after telling [dear daughter] (after she made a huge plate and didn’t eat it) that I could used those for leftovers for dad’s lunch, he confessed how unhappy he’s been with his lunches for 15 years! I’m laughing because it’s so bizarre. Why would he suddenly proclaim this?"

This unexpected reveal prompted a slew of responses on the forum, many of them more than a little wry. One person exclaimed: "Divorce him! This is worse than an affair," while another simply added: "He's a keeper!"

One commenter suggested that he ate the leftovers because it was a better option than going hungry. The mum replied: "I know this, he knows this. But I don’t get why, since there are always multiple other options for things to make, he will 9/10 grab the leftovers. Because they are easy? I wonder what he will do now that I won’t go to the trouble to save leftovers anymore!"

However, someone else appeared to side with the husband's confession and admitted: "No one likes leftovers. Very few things taste best after being in the fridge for a day. We eat leftovers because its easy than cooking every night and cheaper than ordering out."

While another had a dig at the husband's seeming inability to prepare his own lunch and wrote: "He has no intention of actually preparing food for himself unless there is no other option. He thinks that you should pack his lunch or cook him something when he's hungry."
