Peter Andre didn't tell his sick mum, 86, that wife Emily is pregnant

Peter Andre and wife Emily were delighted to tell fans that they are to welcome their third child together next year - but there's one person did not share the news with.

The singer, 50, and his doctor wife, 34, made the decision to keep the news from Pete's mum, Thea, 86. Pete has admitted that his mum's health battles have been "very difficult" in recent years and he decided to keep his happy news a secret in case things went wrong in Emily's pregnancy.

Speaking to OK! Magazine, he said: "I didn't want to risk later having to break bad news. Heaven forbid if something went wrong, it would have really hurt my mama. She's always been so strong as a person, so to all of a sudden see her not so strong is hard. But she's so thrilled and asks every day about the bump."

Although he hid it from his parents, Pete had also tried to keep the news from his children, Junior, 18, Princess, 16, Millie, nine and Theo, seven. Discussing how Junior found out before his siblings, Pete said: "One day, without thinking, I asked Junior to pick up a prescription from the pharmacy for Emily, and he rang me and said, 'Dad, I've got to tick a box saying if she's pregnant or not', what could I do? So Junior found out a little earlier, but that really wasn't the plan!"

Peter shared the news on Instagram that he and Emily were expecting back in October, saying they were "delighted" that their family was growing. Sharing a snap of him and his wife holding the ultrasound, he penned: "We are delighted to share the news with you all. A new addition to our family in 2024. The kids are so excited. So are we."

The couple had made it no secret that they wanted to have another child. Peter said: "We do talk about it all the time, but one minute we're a 'yes' and the next we're a 'no'. We love the idea of having one more child because the two we have together are the most amazing kids – but that thought usually lasts until we see other people with screaming babies! I don’t know. Maybe Junior will be bringing our grandchild to visit in the next 10 years!"
