White trainers look amazing - until the second you walk out of the house and inevitably end up getting them dirty.

Unless you store them in the box and refuse to actually wear them, keeping white trainers looking pristine is a challenge. But, one woman has discovered the secret to transforming your dirty kicks back to their shiny former selves.

The viral hack, which only consists of three simple steps, doesn't require any expensive cleaning kit trainer brands will try and flog you. In fact, it only costs around £1.80 and uses ingredients you probably already have lying around in the house.

TikTok user @idealtimes - whose account has attracted a whopping 15 million followers - posted the tutorial online. The content creator whips together a solution by adding a tablespoon of toothpaste along with a tablespoon of baking soda and washing up liquid.

She mixes the ingredients together until a paste is formed then applies the homemade mixture onto areas of some white Nike Airforce trainers that have lost their shine. You can apply the paste with an old toothbrush, using the bristles to get those hard-to-reach areas.

After a few minutes, the woman wipes off the paste with kitchen roll, revealing a revived pair of sneaks. "It does the trick," she added.

The hack went down well with viewers, with one person commenting: "It's so good. I tried it and I liked it."

You can get a 200g box of bicarbonate of soda from Tesco for just 65p. The cheapest toothpaste at the retailer costs 50p, while washing up liquid can be bought for 69p per bottle. This works out at £1.84 for all three items - if you haven't already got them.
