Kerry Katona breaks silence on daughter DJ's health after hospital dash
Kerry Katona has shared more details of her young daughter’s terrifying emergency visit to hospital.
The 43-year-old former singer is proud mum to five children; sharing daughters Molly Marie, 22, and Lully-Sue, 20, with ex-husband Brian McFadden, 43, daughter Heidi, 16, and son Max, 15, with ex-husband Mark Croft, 52, and youngest daughter DJ, nine, with late ex-husband George Kay – who died in 2019 aged 38. Last week, DJ was rushed to hospital and diagnosed with influenza – leaving Kerry near sick herself with worry.
Kerry has previously confessed that she worries about her youngest child’s health more than her other kids as she had a difficult birth. And she has revealed that DJ had to be isolated while her health condition was diagnosed and treated.
Ex Atomic Kitten singer Kerry has revealed DJ has since returned home and is now recovering – but she is still shaken by the ordeal. The proud mum also explained she couldn’t face leaving her daughter alone while her health scare unfolded.

Explaining that she couldn’t leave her daughter’s side, Kerry added: “I took some days off work to stay with her. She’s home now, but nurses are still coming to us to visit. It’s been scary and she’s still full of cold, but she’s on the mend. Ryan is looking after her while I go back to work.”
Just last month, Kerry opened up about the anxiety she has over DJ and her health. She said that she was left shaken by the news that presenter Annabel Giles had passed away – the television and radio star died aged 64 on 20 November following a brave battle against cancer.
Kerry explained days after the presenter’s death: “Annabel Giles sadly passed away at 64 last week, which was awful. It really scares me to read things like that. It’s such a shame and I’m thinking of her family. I have health anxiety when it comes to DJ.
“I worry about her, especially recently as she’s had a few fainting spells. We took her for an MRI and the doctor found something. We’re waiting as her results have been sent to a neurosurgeon, but the doctor seems to think she’s alright. He said that lots of us could have what she has but we’ve just not had MRIs.”
DJ’s father, rugby star George, died in 2019 after a drug overdose. He and Kerry had met when they were in school together, but didn’t begin dating until 2012 after a chance encounter brought them back together.
Following George’s death, Kerry said in an interview: “George is my baby's daddy and she's never, ever going to see him again and I've got so much anger towards him for that. I'm so angry. You become very, very selfish when you have an addiction. He's going to be missing out on so many wonderful things, because that kid is one amazing kid.”
