Hidden washing machine button prevents musty smells clinging to your clothes
People are baffled after a savvy woman revealed there's a hidden washing machine button they never knew existed.
No one wants to wait for their machine cycle to end, only to discover their clothes smell musty. If your clothes are coming out of the washing machine smelling than less perfectly fresh, it is probably time to give your machine a proper clean.
Thankfully, a woman named Mindy McKnight has revealed there is a simple way of checking if your machine needs a good scrubbing. The TikTok user, who has raked in over 24 million likes on her videos, often shares her top tips from hair styles, to cleaning, décor ideas, and more.
The cleaning wizz shared how she cleans her washing machine with a secret button and what products she swears by, and watches said her video "taught them more than school".
Mindy,44, said: "Ever wonder what the push button is for on your washing machine drawer? Here's the answer." Demonstrating what to do, she added: "Check this out - push this button and the tray should slide all the way out, put it over here [in a sink] and then scrub it with soap to get rid of all the residual mould and build up."

She used washing up liquid to cleaning the tray and a scrubber. Mindy warned that not everyone will have the button which enables the washing machine tray to be pulled out, so she has come up with an alternative method.

And then take a toothbrush and scrub all of that away."
She added that people should pull out the top of the drawer compartments and clean underneath too. You can pick up a pack of baking soda for just 65p at Asda or Tesco, lemon juice at Aldi for 44p, and washing up liquid at washing up liquid for 55p at Morrisons.
The video raked in over 55,000 views and people said they tried the cleaning hack at home. One individual said: "Heading to my washing machine now." Another wrote: "My mum removed the drawer every time after we finish a wash, as we can just rinse it under the tap and it helps with build up and hard water."
One individual revealed their washing machine was "nasty" before trying Mindy's trick. Another TikTok user said: "Once again TikTok has taught me more than school."
Another added: "I'm 5'2, I didn't even know there was a push button; I stand on my tippy toes to put the detergent in."
