Emmerdale character devastated amid proposal twist and surprise celebrity cameo

Emmerdale is set for dramatic festive scenes later this month.

Soap fans will recall Tom King recently proposed to Belle Dingle, who gently turned down his proposal as it felt too soon and she pointed out it felt bad timing with everything going on with Lydia Dingle following her devastating rape. However, Tom didn't take the news well and as Belle reassured him she wasn't "saying no", he attempted to storm out.

Belle tried to stop Tom from leaving but he violently pushed Belle, shouting "leave me alone" as Belle hit her head on the table, leaving the scared character bleeding. Tom was quick to apologise, insisting he would never do it again and he'd never want to hurt her, begging for another chance to which Belle insisted it was "okay", saying: "I've already forgotten it".

Belle has failed to tell her family any of the worrying details, pretending that Tom took her proposal rejection well and that it had made them closer. In upcoming scenes, Nicola King organises the Christmas Fair and announces surprise guests for the event.

Meanwhile, Belle is intrigued as Tom announces he has a secret plan to make her Christmas a memorable one but he soon beats himself up over his failed plans. The following week, Tom is thrilled by the imminent arrival of Nicola’s special guests. Elsewhere, after hearing that Tom is a massive Torvill and Dean fan, Chas Dingle suggests to Belle that today would be perfect for a proposal. However, back at the fair, Tom's devastated. What's happened and why is Tom so upset?

It comes as Dancing on Ice legends will make a surprise cameo on Emmerdale this Christmas. The ITV soap has announced that legendary ice skaters, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, will appear in a very special Christmas episode from the Dales this year, with filming having taken place in Leeds.

Christopher Dean said of his Emmerdale cameo: "It is amazing being here. We have jumped from watching Emmerdale on TV to being in a scene. From the screen to the scene. I’m loving it," whilst Jayne Torvill added of the pair's stint on the soap: "I can’t wait to watch the episode that we are going to be in. It will be surreal sitting at home watching it."

Emmerdale Producer, Laura Shaw, added: "We are delighted to welcome Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean as our very special guests to Emmerdale. Torvill and Dean certainly promise to bring the Christmas magic sparkle to the show."
