EastEnders Christmas killer 'sealed' - All the motives amid 'double death'

EastEnders viewers will soon find out who the Christmas killer is, and who dies in the Christmas Day episode of the BBC soap.

Fans of the soap have known for months that a mystery male character will die in the big episode this month, with six female suspects at the scene of the crime; The Queen Vic. Clues in episodes over the past year, and in the special flashforward scene that aired in February, have hinted at what goes down but nothing is certain and we don't know who dies.

Kathy Beale, Suki Panesar, Denise Fox, Linda Carter, Stacey Slater and Sharon Watts are the suspects at the scene of the crime, with one of them set to be the killer. Amid speculation that other characters could be involved, it's thought that one of these women will turn to murder.

That said, the latest theory that there could be a shock double death could mean more than one of them commit a dark crime. This week the full trailer was released showing all six characters in The Vic or outside, with possible clues to what happens in the episode - so let's take a look at each suspect and their motive, as well as who they might kill.

Stacey Slater

In the flashforward clip, fans saw Stacey looking pretty shaken up with her hands covered in blood as she stared down at the corpse. She appears to be the most shaken of the six, while she also has the most blood on her - but could it all be a red herring?

Just months ago we were introduced to Theo Hawthorne, who ended up stalking and harassing Stacey, before attempting to rape her. Fans are convinced he could return and that they could have a final showdown on Christmas Day.

Stacey has actually killed before, and her last murder actually took place on Christmas Day 2009. She murdered her rapist Archie Mitchell in The Queen Vic, in a spot close to where this year's body was seen lying in the preview clip - so is history about to repeat itself?

Linda Carter

Linda is the least likely killer of the victim on the pub floor if the flashforward is anything to go by. She's seen walking into the room from out the back, and is shocked as if she's missed the entire event.

The fact she's not in the room at the time seemingly would suggest she isn't the killer. That said, fans are convinced she might kill another character upstairs in The Vic, after her trailer showed her scrubbing blood off the kitchen floor.

She also has a cut lip so has clearly had some sort of fight or an accident. Did the soap try to throw viewers off track by thinking Linda was innocent, only for her to be the real killer?

Kathy Beale

Kathy is the current favourite to be the killer this Christmas, and the character most viewers want to see turn murderer. The character looked the least shocked in the flashforward, and gave Suki a weird look as she stared at the body on the floor.

Kathy had told Linda prior to the clip that she'd protect her if Dean ever came back, and now Dean is back and possibly the Christmas victim. Will she be forced to keep her promise and protect Linda, or maybe one of the other women?

Could her rage over her husband Rocky Cotton's betrayal lead to her attacking him, or maybe Suki's husband Nish Panesar if she finds out he's been blackmailing Rocky? She has the least motive out of all if not most of The Six, so it could well be Kathy.

There's also the fact in recent trailers the numbers eight and five appeared, with EastEnders first airing in 1985. Kathy was in the very first episode, so is it a hint one of the show's most iconic characters is the killer?

Denise Fox

We've seen lots of clues as to why Denise might turn killer, including her fling with Ravi Gulati and her rocky marriage to Jack Branning. She wears a green dress in the big episode, with fans wondering if it could symbolise green with envy.

After all, Jack and Stacey have gotten closer and an affair could be on the cards - with fans predicting this for a while. So might a jealous Denise lash out in a moment of madness and kill her husband, or maybe her former fling Ravi?

She was tipped to be a red herring as in the original scene, she was shown wielding a broken champagne bottle. But might the clues to who the killer is have been there from the very start?

Suki Panesar

The most recent of The Six to have their trailer and their storyline is Suki, while her storyline and motive has been pretty long running. Suki has been trapped in a marriage with controlling husband Nish for years, and while she had time away when he was in prison his return to her life in 2022 saw her stuck once more.

A recent episode saw him find out about her romance with Eve Unwin, and he ordered his son Ravi to kill Eve. While she is secretly still alive Eve is missing, and Suki is in a state with her hopes to flee Nish in tatters.

She obviously has no idea what Nish knows and what he has done, or at least what he thinks he's done. So if she does find out she lost Eve because of Nish, we wouldn't be surprised if she ends up killing him or even her stepson Ravi, given his part in the drama.

In the trailer she was seen running away from The Vic, so could she be running from the scene of the crime? Also in the flashforward we saw her looking numb as she stared at the body with Kathy giving her a weird look, almost as if the person on the floor was linked to Suki.

Sharon Watts

The final member of The Six is Sharon, and she certainly takes centre stage on Christmas Day as she is set to wed Keanu Taylor. That said, she is yet to find out he kidnapped their son in a bid to steal money from her.

Keanu is also yet to uncover he isn't son Albie's biological father, with Phil Mitchell his real dad. With two huge bombshells set to explode and with a wedding on the cards, fans think Christmas Day will be the time it all comes out.

It would be history repeating itself, given Christmas Day 2019 saw Keanu 'killed' by the Mitchells over his affair with Sharon, with Sharon falling pregnant with what she thought was Keanu's child. So four years on, will the same trio take centre stage in another shocking murder plot?
