Strictly fans fume over judges' scores after Bobby Brazier's 'mistake'

Strictly Come Dancing fans branded the dance show a fix' after Bobby Brazier managed to land in third place on the leaderboard – despite failing to pull off a dance move.

The Eastenders star and his partner Dianne Buswell performed a Dirty Dancing-inspired routine for Musicals Week. The pair got off to a smooth start however, during the middle of their performance, Bobby and Dianne failed to nail the iconic Dirty Dancing lift – although they'd managed to pull it off during rehearsals.

Viewers quickly noticed Bobby's shaky hands while launching Dianne above his head. The 34-year-old professional dancer was unable to extend her arms and legs as planned before she was brought back to the ground.

Despite their attempt at the lift not being as effortless as they hoped, the judges applauded the dancing couple on their effort and complimented other elements in their routine. Judge Craig Revel Horwood dubbed their performance their best one yet, and in the end, Dianne and Bobby were awarded a score of 34.

However, viewers at home were not as impressed. Some slammed the judges' scoring – while others were furious that Bobby and Dianne scored higher than Annabel and Johannes. At the top of the leaderboard was Layton Williams and professional dancer Nikita Kuzmin, who dazzled with a sizzling Paso Doble – and the pair were awarded the first 40 of the series. While Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola were in second place with a score of 36.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, one person wrote: "How can they score Bobby the same as Ellie and Vito when he f**ked up the lift." Another person fumed: "Nah I love Bobby and Dianne but why was Craig the only one to point out that the lift went wrong."

A third wrote: "Mmmm not sure about those scores like, no way was Bobby better than Annabel?? He literally made a mistake and didn't get the lift right at the end." After the show, Dianne expressed her devastation after the pair were unable to perfect the lift during the live performance.

She said: "Gutted the LIFT didn’t go to plan like it had in most rehearsals. But I do have to say we took a risk and didn’t play it safe that dance was hard and so iconic that of course there was pressure to do it justice. And the feeling of just not quite getting it was a bit low for us."

She added: "HOWEVER Bobby wanted to challenge himself and so did I. Let’s focus on the amazing parts of the dance, the fact Bobby was leading me around the floor, his hips, footwork, expression and just overall improvement for a guy who started dancing only 11 weeks ago is incredible!" [sic]
