One of the best things about Christmas is that you can eat a copious amount of mince pies and blame it on being Christmas, and now you can easily make your own with this four-ingredient air fryer recipe.

One of the most festive foods you can eat, there's nothing quite like tucking into a fresh mince pie with a hot drink in hand, so why not try and bake your own in your air fryer from online recipe creator and foodie Sisley. Despite mince pie recipes packed with several ingredients and a whole list of instructions, this quick and easy recipe needs just four ingredients, and despite others saying it's "cheating," you'll whip up a tasty load of mince pies in no time.

As air fryers have made cooking much easier and quicker, these mince pies will take just 30 minutes to cook and bake. So to make 12 delicious mince pies according to The Express, the recipe can be found below.

Ingredients

  • One sheet of shortcrust pastry (approximately 350g)
  • Flour for dusting
  • 300g mincemeat
  • One egg

Despite the ingredients list being simple, there are also a few tools you'll need to help assemble the pies. You will also need a pastry cutter, a rolling pin, 12 cupcake cases and your trusty air fryer. The pies will take 15 minutes to make and 15 minutes to bake in your air fryer.

So to make the pies, to start with, unroll your pastry sheet (shop-bought) and, using your pastry cutter, cut out the bases just a little wider than the cupcake bases and gently push them into the cases to create the base for the pies.

Add the mincemeat mix to the bases in the cupcake cases, and fill to around three-quarters full. With the remaining pastry, cut out 12 lids, and they can be in either in star shapes to make them extra festive or as a smaller circular top and placed on top. Whisk an egg and brush it on top of each lid.

Once done, air fry six pies at a time for 15 minutes at 180C, but Sisley recommends checking after 10 minutes to see if they need longer and have turned a golden brown colour. Enjoy!
