Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are said to be "damaged more than the Royals" after Omid Scobie's book, Endgame, was released in the week.

Royal author Omid Scobie, who is famed for having co-authored Finding Freedom, which was about the Sussexes, has now penned a new scathing book on the Royal Family. The "explosive" new book, which hit shelves on Tuesday, was described as "a penetrating investigation into the current state of the British monarchy" before its release.

And since the book hit shelves, the book has also been hitting headlines non-stop after a series of revelations in regards to the Royal Family. But perhaps the most shocking revelation came in a Dutch translation of the book.

Two senior royals were named in a Dutch translation, named the two senior members of the Royal Family – whom the Sussexes did not name when they spoke to Oprah Winfrey in 2021 – who allegedly raised "concerns and conversations" about what colour their son Prince Archie's skin colour would be before he was born.

When the Sussexes made their explosive allegations on Oprah, in an interview broadcast around the world, they set in train a public debate about who in the royal family might harbour such racially charged views. In a multicultural modern Britain such allegations against the monarchy generated debate on a matter of such public importance with Scobie's new book claiming to add to that public debate.

Scobie has denied "naming" the two senior Royals. Appearing on Dutch chat show RTL Boulevard, he said: “The book is in several languages, and unfortunately I do not speak Dutch. But if there are translation errors, I’m sure the publishers will have it under control.

“I wrote and edited the English version,” he added. “There’s never been no version that I’ve produced that has names in it.”

Dutch publishers Xander Uitgevers were quick to put sales of Scobie's new book on hold temporarily over what it called an "error". They then said the book would be re-released on Friday in a "rectified" version. In their statement they said: "An error occurred in the Dutch translation and is currently being rectified."

The Royal Family is now said to be "considering all options", including legal action, after former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan named the two senior Royals on TalkTV. Meanwhile, the Sussexes have remained silent on the matter, with them now being urged to speak out, according to The Telegraph.

Pauline Maclaran, Professor of Marketing and Consumer Research at Royal Holloway, University of London, has spoken to the Express about the Sussexes and their chance of healing the ongoing feud they have with the Windsors and Waleses.

"It will be interesting to see what they do. Before the book came out they were trying to distance themselves from it," she said, before adding how it was urged that they had not contributed to it and were not supporting it.

Not only were the Sussexes distancing themselves from the book, but Scobie, who has been dubbed as Meghan's "mouthpiece" in the past, has been quick to say that he's not a "pal" of the former actress ahead of the book coming out. "The Sussexes may be worried the book will spoil a chance of restoring relations with the Royal Family. Many media outlets are reminding people that Omid Scobie was Harry and Meghan's mouthpiece," Pauline told the outlet.

She then went on to highlight the Sussexes' brand and the risk of it being tarnished, noting how she doesn't believe Scobie was the Sussexes' "mouthpiece", she said that "if that continues it will damage Harry and Meghan more than the Royals. For the Royals it's just another emotional frenzy... They can move past it."
