Jamie Oliver impresses fans with 'cheat recipe' for 30 minute sausage rolls
A flaky golden brown sausage roll is definitely a staple for pastry lovers and the perfect make ahead appetiser especially as we head into the party season.
But don't head on down to Greggs or Iceland just yet because chef Jamie Oliver has shared a 'great cheat recipe' for the perfect sausage rolls in half an hour and everything is just a little bit better when it's homemade. This is the perfect recipe to get the family involved in.
Whether you are comfortable in the kitchen or can only follow a simple recipe, Jamie’s quick and easy recipe is hassle free for creating this mouth-watering treat. Whilst the chef is known for having made several variations of this recipe his most recent recipe celebrates autumn with seasonal fruits.
The simple recipe combines delectable puff pastry, fresh apples and pork mince to create the go-to treat on cold nights.

Ingredients:
One leek
One Royal Gala apple
Four sprigs of fresh thyme
500 grams of minced pork
½ teaspoon mustard seeds
500 grams of puff pastry
One large free-range egg.
Method
Preheat the oven to 200C/400F/gas 6. Wash, trim and dice the leek, core and dice the apple, then pick the thyme leaves.
Mix together the pork, leek, apple, thyme leaves and mustard seeds in a bowl, season the ingredients and then set them aside. Roll out the pastry to one cm thick and 34 cm x 30 cm. Halve lengthways and place a strip of mince down the centre of each.
Brush the edges with beaten egg, roll up and seal. Brush with more egg, then cut each strip into three cm rolls. Score the tops and bake for 20 minutes or until golden and cooked through.

The chef proposes making some rolls larger and serving them on a chopping board to slice up for dinner guests. He adds: “Guys, homemade sausage rolls are beautiful [and] so easy. This is a great cheat recipe.”
