Cook 'perfectly' fluffy jacket potatoes 'each time' in 10 mins with chef's trick
A cookbook author has lifted the lid on how you can achieve 'perfectly' fluffy jacket potatoes in just 10 minutes.
While sharing the secret behind her quick and delicious recipe, Kathryn Doherty, a former health and nutrition editor and owner of Family Food On The Table blog, claimed that it takes her less time to cook the potatoes in the microwave than a conventional oven.
"Microwave baked potatoes come out perfectly fluffy and tender every time - and only take about 10 minutes" the food expert revealed. According to some food websites, it can take roughly 30- 45 minutes for potatoes to cook fully, when it becomes crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The classic British dish is the number one meal choice for most people - and tastes best when drizzled with baked beans and cheese.
To begin making the perfect jacket potatoes in a matter of minutes, Kathyrn revealed that you should begin by scrubbing and poking six individual holes in them. The foodie says she does this "a few times on each side." Next, you need to place potatoes directly onto the microwave plate afterwards.
How long your potatoes take to cook in the microwave depends on your microwave power, potato size, and the number of potatoes. You may have to wait 10 to 11 minutes to prepare two medium-sized potatoes compared to when you stick one in a machine.

But for larger ones, it could take a slightly bit longer. If the potatoes are especially big, they’ll likely need an extra couple of minutes of microwave time.
To tell when it's ready, Kathryn says the potatoes "gives without resistance and starts to open up." However, when it's firm, you should give in an extra few minutes in the microwave. Finally, when it's all done, you can add any additional ingredients of your choice to the dish and enjoy.
