EastEnders fans were left hooked on Thursday night as one character appeared to leave the BBC One soap in a devastating twist.

Only recently, Nish Panesar discovered wife Suki Panesar's secret relationship with Eve Unwin and their plan to start a new life away from Walford. In a heated exchange, Nish fumed at Eve for "seducing" Suki and taking her away from him, before Eve told him that Suki had wanted their relationship too and they had been planning to run away together that evening.

After seeing red, Nish hit Eve with a bottle and left her for dead on the floor of Walford East, before he urged his son Ravi to finish the job and kill her off for good. In Thursday's episode, Nish coerced Ravi into helping dispose of Eve's body despite Ravi insisting he didn't want to be involved.

During the episode, after being manipulated, Ravi took Eve to the woods, where she had regained consciousness in the boot of the car. Eve was able to push Ravi away as she ran off into the woods in tense run-and-chase scenes. In one nail-biting moment, Eve hid behind a tree with Ravi just inches away as she attempted to attack him with a tree branch.

However, Ravi was able to fight her off and as he was about to kill her, Eve managed to plead with him as they both agreed to come up with a plan. It was decided that Eve would disappear so Nish would believe Ravi had killed her and the latter threatened Eve if she were to come back or attempt to make contact with anyone, she would be dead, as well as her loved ones. Eve then ran off into the woods, appearing to show an exit from the BBC One soap.

However, during the moment Eve hid behind a tree, there appeared to be a six engraved on the trunk and a hint of blue light, teasing at the upcoming Christmas scenes. The hit BBC One soap is gearing up for a Christmas whodunnit, where Denise, Kathy, Linda, Sharon, Stacey and Suki are faced with a dead body, whose identity is yet to be revealed. Could the six on the tree be linked to the six women involved in the Christmas storyline and with Suki wearing blue in the festive teasers, could the blue light also be a hint?

During the tense woods scenes, Nish has Eve's phone as he sent a message to Suki, who was waiting at the station, impersonating Eve and saying she can’t go through with the plan to escape and she will never see her again. The text left heartbroken Suki with no choice but to head back home, where Nish started showing even more worrying and controlling behaviour.

Soap watchers are already predicting that Eve will come back this Christmas to save Suki and the dead body could be Nish's. Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: "#EastEnders eve best come back", a different account put: "Gutted Eve's leaving (Temporarily) & even more gutted for Suki, being left to think she just backed outta their escape plan but at least we know Eve's alive & she obviously wouldn't abandon Suki for long, maybe she returns at Christmas? Suki's trailer is her revenge? #EastEnders."

Elsewhere, a different soap watcher quipped: "Guess ‘Eve ‘will be back Christmas Eve #eastenders" while another viewer added: "Right, I'm calling it. #EastEnders Body on the floor at Christmas is Nish. We don't see Eve now from today until Christmas Day when she comes back to kill him."
