Taking your own vehicle to the airport means it will be there ready for you when you return. Without having to worry about pricey taxi charges if your flight is delayed or missed trains or coaches, paying to park at the airport is an additional expense that could actually be worth its weight in gold.

With different options to choose from depending on the size and location of your departure airport, finding good value airport parking can be a challenge.

If you have booked your next adventure on Travel Tuesday, follow these top tips to save money on parking:

  • Book in advance - early birds could save big money booking their parking at the same time as purchasing their holiday
  • Look for combo deals - sometimes it can be cheaper or better value to stay for one night at the airport and leave the car there while you are away.
  • Shop around - never just settle for the price you find on the airport website, use sites like Airport Parking and Hotels (APH), BookingFHR.com and Holiday Extras to see what, if any, deals they are offering.
  • Sign up and save - getting on your local airport's mailing list means that deals will drop into your inbox all year round

Before you book, check that the parking facility you have chosen displays the Park Mark symbol. This is awarded to parking facilities that have been risk assessed and approved by police.

Airport Hotels

Early-morning flights or late-night arrivals can be made more comfortable if you are able to stay close to the airport. With the likes of Travelodge, Marriot and Premier Inn all offering hotel options within close proximity to UK airports, there are usually deals to be found all year round.

With different airports offering different lounges depending on size and demand, you can find good deals on comparison sites such as You can buy passes through general holiday sites such as Lounge Pass, Holiday Extras or Lounge Buddy to book into airport lounges worldwide.
