Emmerdale's David left devastated as Victoria and Jacob's affair comes to light

David Metcalfe got more than he bargained for in Emmerdale when he found out about Jacob and Victoria's romance.

The businessman had been celebrating his birthday but received a rather unexpected surprise from his stepson and ex-girlfriend. In recent weeks, Jacob Gallagher and Victoria Sugden have been keeping their controversial romance extremely low-key in a bid to not be caught out but their recent antics have not gone unnoticed.

While Victoria was dating David, he had no idea that she was secretly meeting up with Jacob. Last month, the pair engaged in a heated kiss after Jacob agreed to go for a drink with Abbey, leaving her enraged before she dragged him in for a kiss.

During tonight's episode, Jacob and Victoria secretly snuck away to his home which was empty but were left stunned when David made an unexpected arrival and almost caught them while Jacob was dressed as a police officer in a bid to seduce Victoria. Shocked by being interrupted, Jacob attempted to convince David that he was hiding Gabby, while Victoria instantly looked for cover upstairs.

But things turned awkward when David discovered that Gabby was in The Woolpack and instantly made a comment about her alleged romance with Jacob, leaving her perplexed. However, things went from bad to worse when Victoria discovered that she'd lost a bracelet given to her by David and instantly panicked and hoped he hadn't seen it.

After Jacob found the bracelet in question, the pair became embroiled in a passionate kiss unbeknownst to them that they were being watched the whole time. A stunned David who was on his way back home caught Jacob and Victoria leaving him completely blown away.

David had been hoping to reconcile his relationship with Victoria but couldn't believe his eyes when he found out she was the secret girlfriend of Jacob, whom he had raised since he was a toddler. Horrified by the revelation, David packed his bags as he prepared to leave the Yorkshire village, ahead of the actor, Matthew Wolfendon's exit from the show.

Fans have since taken to social media to share their views. Writing on X, formerly known as Twitter, one penned: "Jacob and Victoria make me feel ill #Emmerdale." A second added: "#emmerdale is no one finding the whole Victoria Jacob thing totally disgusting? He was her stepson!" Meanwhile, another added: "

Matthew was emotional as he spoke about his exit from the Dales. He said recently: "That made me really emotional! I am so nervous about leaving, nearly 20 years, almost two decades. It feels like the right time, the door has been left open - they're not killing me off, I've been promised. Who knows, I might be back [in the future]. Yeah, but we will see ...

"I met my wife on the show [Charley Webb, who played Debbie Dingle], we've had three kids, so not only has it given me 18 years of an amazing job, it's given me a family so to leave it, it's been a big part of my life and the most wonderful 18 years." Sadly, Matthew and Charley recently announced their split after tying the knot in 2018.
