Emmerdale's Sam Dingle floored over new Craig bombshell as fans left baffled

Emmerdale's Sam Dingle was left stunned on Thursday night.

Only recently, Sam's wife Lydia Dingle interrogated her family after her rapist Craig Reed was found dead in a field. Eventually, after a week-long whodunnit, it was revealed that Sam had beaten up Craig before he was struck by Kim Tate's horse with Kim and Cain Dingle letting Craig die in the field.

After learning Sam had attacked Craig after she begged him to do nothing, Lydia has been staying at Home Farm in a bid to get her head around everything. On Thursday's episode, Sam was left devastated to learn that Lydia was heading to Craig's funeral as he questioned why she would go. Later, despite being told not to, he spoke to Lydia as she explained: "I'm hoping by doing this one thing, I might be able to put an end to something that has been bothering me for weeks."

Sam, who insisted he wasn't stopping her, then handed her a black coat which she had chucked out and he had found for the funeral. Later, Lydia accidentally missed the funeral due to babysitting Esther and she ended up having a heart-to-heart with Samson Dingle. The episode ended with Lydia wanting to have a chippy tea with her family and she told Sam that despite being happy to be home, they still had a long way to go.

However, viewers were left distracted during the scenes as they were baffled over Lydia's treatment of Sam and why she would want to attend Craig's funeral. Taking to Twitter, now X, one person said: "Why is Lydia going to the funeral #Emmerdale" with a confused emoji while another wrote: "Please enlighten me but why is Lydia going to her rapist's funeral? #emmerdale".

Elsewhere, a different viewer said: "#lydia #emmerdale this is ridiculous why would she go to the funeral of her rapist and treat Sam like he’s the one that’s done the crime" while a different fan added: "Lydia’s going to Craig’s funeral" with a shocked emoji. Meanwhile, another soap watcher insisted: "Enough with Lydia & Sam now please!" as they begged for the couple to reunite properly.
