Strictly's Nigel Harman shares 'disappointment' over mistake amid viewer concern

Strictly Come Dancing's Nigel Harman has explained his reaction to his scores from the judges, after fans said he appeared "broken" by the comments this weekend.

Nigel and his professional dance partner Katya Jones impressed viewers once again this week with another great performance. But some mistakes in the routine led to some lower scores for the pair, and critique from the judges.

The pair performed the quickstep to It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing by Duke Ellington. Although Nigel received a 31, he seemed disappointed as the judges pointed out a few flaws.

As the scores were read out Nigel appeared to pull a face before shaking his head, as Katya tried to reassure him. It was clear he wasn't happy with how it had gone, with host Claudia Winkleman telling him she didn't want him to be disappointed.

As the show closed, and the remaining couples gathered and did a little dance, Nigel didn't seem up for it with viewers commenting he wasn't getting involved. Viewers shared concern for the star over his reaction to his scores and him not seeming himself, but Nigel has since addressed what he was so gutted about after the performance.

Speaking on It Takes Two on Wednesday, Nigel told host Fleur East that he was upset over the mistakes he had made, given how hard he and Katya had worked on the routine. He insisted he did have a good time during the Blackpool special, despite fans believing he was upset.

He told Fleur, with Katya in agreement: "It is so brilliant the Blackpool floor, it's such a gift. It's so big and bouncy and the crowd were so present and with you. I loved every second of it.

"I actually think it was the best I've danced on the show, and then I made some mistakes, but putting that aside it was the most I have enjoyed it. I had such a good time which is why when I made the mistake, afterwards it was so disappointing because you have done all that work and it was so good."
