Jamie Lynn Spears appears to be having a tough time in the I'm A Celebrity... jungle, and she's has a hard one on the outside too.

In last night's episode, the actress broke down in tears to campmate Fred Sirieix when opening up about the events that unfolded when she became a teen mum. And after admitting she missed her children, the celebrities rallied around the Zoey 101 star by running her a hot bath and serenading her in a bid to cheer her up.

Jamie, whose sister is superstar Britney Spears, fell pregnant at 16 after finding her own fame with Nickelodeon. She told Fred: "After I finished Zoey, I had the love of my life, what I thought, I decided to keep the baby. I was 16. The whole world was like, 'You're a s**t, you're horrible your life is over…'".

Amidst a swirl of negative press attention, Jamie left Hollywood for Mississippi where she raised her daughter Maddie, who is now 15. She later headed to Nashville, earning success as a songwriter. Her eldest's father is Jamie's childhood sweetheart Casey Aldridge, who was 19 when their daughter was born.

The couple were previously engaged but split in 2010 when Maddie was just 19 months old. Jamie Lynn introduced Maddie to the world when she was just three weeks old when she graced the cover of OK! magazine in July 2008, with her smiling mum holding her. The headline read 'Jamie Lynn's baby Maddie! Being a mom is the best feeling in the world.'

During her heart-to-heart with Fred on Monday night, he asked how her parents reacted to the baby news. "Yeah, they had a lot going on. I just think they were sad I was in that situation but also it's your baby having a baby. I had to go hide away for a long time because they [the press] were relentless," she shared.

"I moved to Mississippi and literally hid. Put a gate around me. I had 20 paparazzi on me every day. They wouldn't leave me alone. They came and lived in Mississippi, middle of nowhere. It was horrible. I hated it so much. I just wanted to be normal. I wanted my baby to be normal. Everybody told me I was going to be a horrible mum. So I was like I've got to raise this baby by myself and I did."

Jamie Lynn became tearful as she said: "When I went away… when I first got pregnant…They didn't want me to have the baby. A lot of people around me." When Jamie Lynn and ex Casey split, she and Maddie moved back to the Spears' home state of Louisiana where she eventually met her now husband Jamie.

She has been married to businessman Jamie Watson, 41, for almost a decade and five years ago, they welcomed daughter Ivey. "I was an 18-year-old single mom, when this guy came into my life," Jamie, who returned to acting three years ago in Netflix show Sweet Magnolias, said. "He made me laugh more than I ever had before, and his never-changing consistency gave me stability for the first time."

Before starting her own family, Jamie Lynn experienced a fraught relationship with her superstar older sister Britney after growing up in her shadow. The pair have infamously shared their spats over the years.

Talking in her new memoir The Woman in Me, Britney, 41, claimed Jamie Lynn became entitled whilst she was working away on tour. She painted Jamie as a spoilt brat who had her every need met. "My mom was trying to recover from her divorce from my dad, which she’d finally gone through with; depressed and self-medicating, she could barely get up off the couch," she wrote.

"My dad was nowhere to be found. And my little sister - well, when I tell you she was a total bitch, I’m not exaggerating... My mom would serve Jamie Lynn while she watched TV, bringing her little chocolate milkshakes. It was clear that girl ruled the roost." Britney felt unnoticed at the time, and was gobsmacked at how Jamie reportedly spoke to their mum.

And during her time of need when she fought to get out of her conservatorship, Britney claimed her sibling wasn't there for her. The Toxic singer insisted that she had capitalised on the harrowing ordeal instead. Jamie Lynn released a 2022 memoir, Things I Should Have Said: Family, Fame, and Figuring it Out, which saw Britney threaten legal action.

Writing in her memoir, Britney addressed the conservatorship, which was suspended in November 2021, and said Jamie did not have her back. "I was left with so many emotions: shock, relief, elation, sadness, joy. I felt betrayed by my father, and sadly, by the rest of my family, too. My sister and I should have found comfort in each other, but unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case."

For Jamie Lynn, growing up in the Hit Me Baby One More Time singer's shadow was tough. "Sometimes I feel like I don't really have anything for myself," she wept on US TV. "I'm extremely proud of my sister but also have my own identity." And following Britney's remarks about escaping her conservatorship, Jamie hit back at disgruntled Britney fans saying: "Maybe I didn't support her the way the public would like me to with a hashtag on a public platform, but I can assure you I've supported my sister long before there was a hashtag, and I’ll support her long after."
