Gary Neville has labelled Jurgen Klopp as the best manager in world football and admitted he would have the Liverpool boss replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United "tomorrow".

Klopp, 56, has transformed Liverpool's fortunes on and off the pitch after replacing Brendan Rodgers in the dugout back in October 2015. The German guided the Reds to Champions League glory in 2019 thanks to a 2-0 win over Tottenham - a year after losing out to Real Madrid in the final.

Then, 12 months on from Liverpool's European success, Klopp helped the Reds to win the Premier League for the first time in 30 years. However, the 2021/22 campaign was arguably Liverpool's most consistent year under Klopp, as they won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, while finishing second in the top flight and reaching the Champions League final for the third time in five years.

Although last season was not as successful for Klopp and Liverpool, ex-United defender Neville still holds the former Borussia Dortmund manager in very high regard. In fact, Neville would appoint Klopp as Ten Hag's successor at the Red Devils tomorrow if he could, rather than Manchester City's Pep Guardiola.

When asked to name the best coach in the world, Neville told The Daily Ketchup podcast : "I'd say Jurgen Klopp. Jurgen Klopp works with a budget which is far less than Pep Guardiola. Pep Guardiola is a genius, and he'll be the one who's remembered forever more. But Jurgen Klopp, for me, is an amazing manager. If you said to me which manager could I bring to Manchester United tomorrow, it would be Jurgen Klopp."

This isn't the first time Neville has waxed lyrical about Klopp. Back in September 2022, Neville hailed Klopp and claimed the criticism against him was unfair after Liverpool made a below-par start to that campaign.

"Jurgen Klopp is an absolute phenomenon, but I think to myself where would Jurgen Klopp go now that you think would be better for him than Liverpool Football Club in the way in which the Premier League is dominating?" Neville said on his podcast back then.

"He has played in Champions League finals, he is competing against the other best managers in the world that are here at the moment. It looks like he is enjoying his time at Anfield too much to me, he enjoys the football, he enjoys the league. I think he enjoys Liverpool fans, and it would be wishful thinking of Manchester United fans to think that Jurgen Klopp was leaving, and I don’t think that’s the case."
