Erik ten Hag might need harmony in his squad right now but that hasn't stopped one Manchester United player calling out the dishonesty of Alejandro Garnacho.

To the relief of the Dutch boss though, the exchange appeared a humorous one, and related to the 19-year-old's off-field hobby as opposed to his first-team contribution. The winger has struggled to nail down a regular starting place with the Red Devils this season, but he's claimed he's in good form when it comes to another form of football.

A keen gamer, the former Atletico Madrid man plays EA Sports FC 24. And on social media the @TenHagBall_ account posted an image of his impressive line-up. The XI consisted of the likes of Peter Schmeichel, Laurent Blanc, Patrick Vieira and Ronaldo.

But the caption of "Alejandro Garnacho on Instagram showing his team on EA Sports FC 24," complete with a fire emoji, drew a response from team-mate Facundo Pellistri. He brutally wrote "And he still can't win any games," prompting a war of words.

Garnacho hit back by claiming he was undefeated against the Uruguayan, writing: "Still 3-0 in games against you. Stop spending money it won't make you good."

Clearly amused by the argument, @TenHagBall_ then chipped in with a series of laughter emoji's, before Pellistri responded again. He pointedly said "He is lying," and this time Garnacho declined to respond.

There was no suggestion however that either player was being serious during the dispute. And when the Premier League season resumes after the international break, Ten Hag will be more concerned with the on-field form of the pair than he is their computer antics.

Garnacho has made 16 club appearances this season, scoring just once. Pellistri meanwhile, has featured just seven times, mostly from the bench.

Both players will be in contention to play when United go to Everton on Sunday. Despite their inconsistent form, Ten Hag's squad lie sixth in the top-flight following their 1-0 win over Luton Town before the international break.
