‘Career con-artist’ accused of loud ‘patio sex’, letting dogs poo in posh home

A man who has been described as a "career con-artist" turned a swanky building into a "veritable flophouse" and is accused of having loud rowdy sex on the patio, a lawsuit has claimed.

Details of the lawsuit that have emerged also claim Sarid Drory, along with his son, nephew and nephew's girlfriend, allowed a dog to poo inside the apartment. It is also said the rent was left unpaid for two years. Real estate management company, West 60th Street Associates which manages the townhouse at 245 West 71st Street, Upper West Side, in the upmarket and sought-after Manhattan district of New York, has filed papers against Drory.

The court documents describe the "chef" as a "career con-artist" and alleged Drory to have a history of fabricating documents, swindling landlords and threatening people. On social media, Drory claims he is a chef, entrepreneur and the mastermind behind the West Village restaurant, The Waverly Inn. But Graydon Carter, the founder of the Waverly, told the NYPost that he had "never heard of him" when asked if he knew Drory.

According to the Manhattan Supreme Court papers filed on October 24, the rent arrears left unpaid by the occupants in the apartment amount to $100,000.

The occupants are said to have secured a lease on the building by providing employment documents for a non-existent restaurant in 2020. Shocking details have emerged in the court papers, which say Drory and those living there with him allowed their dogs to "defecate all over the landlord's furniture." The occupants are also accused of having loud sex on the outdoor patio below the landlord's apartment, which woke the landlord and their young child in the process.

The NY Post claims it attempted to reach out to Drory several times for comment but he did not answer. West 60th Street Associates who made the court filing also declined to comment. Sarid Drory's Instagram account names him as the Former Owner of Waverly Inn, The Cub Room and Greenwich Cafe.

The company is seeking $139,035 in damages as well as $50,000 in legal fees. According to StreetEasy data, one bedrooms in the building cost from $4,200 to almost $6,000 each month.
