A missing woman was found dead in her boyfriend’s fridge ‘wrapped in copious amounts of plastic’, according to a police report.

Heather Schwab, 35, was reported missing in June by her estranged mother, who told police she hadn't had contact with her daughter for around a year due to her drug use. Heather's mother also told police she was scared her boyfriend, 42-year-old Chad Stevens, was dangerous and abusive and could kill her one day.

After reports of Heather's disappearance, police in McKinney, Texas, got a search warrant for Stevens’ home on November 6 where they were met with a horrific scene. Officers found the entrance to the kitchen had been walled off from the rest of the home with sheetrock, the arrest affidavit said.

Cops broke through the makeshift wall, they found the woman’s body wrapped in “copious amounts of plastic wrap” had been shoved in the fridge, according to Fox 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth. Stevens went on to tell police Schwab died in late July, claiming he put her body in the fridge because he didn’t know what else to do, Fox said.

He also told investigators a number of different account about what happened, claiming Schwab died three days after she fell in the shower and hit her head, the station said. This story differed from what Stevens told police in June, when he said Schwab left him and he didn’t know where she’d gone.

Neighbors said he told them neighbors Schwab had died of cancer when they asked where she had gone. Stevens has now been charged with the tampering of evidence, while further charges are expected.

The Collin County man already has a lengthy rap sheet including convictions for assault, theft and drug charges, reports Fox 4. In 2022, police were also called to the residence for a domestic violence incident after someone tipped them off that a man was screaming while a woman waved a gun in the air. The arrest affidavit said authorities think it was the couple in question, Fox said.

Schwab's mother was reportedly told about her daughter's death when Chad's ex wife called her to break the horrific news. Stevens also allegedly threatened to kill his daughter and her unborn baby earlier this year after she called to tell him he was going to be a grandfather.

Investigators interviewed both Stevens’ daughter and his ex, who now live in Oklahoma, the station said. The two told cops about the incident, and that his daughter got angry and told him he needed to “watch what he says because she knew that his girlfriend [Schwab] had gone missing.”
