'My wicked mum-in-law told our little girl about Santa - she's heartbroken'
A mum has been left heartbroken after her mother-in-law "ruined" the magic of Santa Claus for her little girl.
The Christmas-obsessed child was discussing what she is going to ask Father Christmas in her wish list letter, when her grandma told her that her mum and dad buy her presents and put them under the tree.
The little girl, who is a firm believer in Santa, had been "talking about Christmas since July", her mum said. As seen on BoredPanda, the mum shared what happened in a since-deleted Reddit post, and said: "It went over like a lead balloon with my child. My mother-in-law looked pretty happy with herself for the s**t storm she just created for me, and breaking my daughter's heart."
The little girl's dad is "completely shattered" that his mum would "ruin" the magic of Christmas for her granddaughter. After the incident, the mum told her husband's mother to leave their home, adding she is no longer welcome to spend time with their child.
The furious mum added: "She [the mother-in-law] tried to respond that she did us a favour and that our child shouldn't be thanking a man who doesn't exist for the nice things we do for her. I slammed the door in her face. I also told her I was very sorry she let the devil breed hate in her heart."

The mum added: "We've received a few texts and call from his siblings who think I was out of line and that I should apologise to her. I'm still angry. I can't really judge for myself if I'm in the wrong or not, but I don't think I am. I think she crossed a line and I'm justified not letting her have a future relationship with my daughter or any other children we might have."
After all ties were cut between the grandmother and the family-of-three, she began sending gifts to her granddaughter, the mum explained. It has been said she planned to pick up her granddaughter from school without the parents' consent for a "surprise adventure".
The school office got in touch with the parents, who rushed to the educational establishment. The mother-in-law was arrested by police "before she could kidnap the child". Their relationship has remained strained since.
A number of people shared their thoughts on the family drama. One individual said: "She doesn't deserve an apology. I would block her number and reduce contact. Good thing your husband is on your side."
Another commented: "Stick up for your baby. You're not wrong." Offering advice, one person said: "Tell your daughter when some people get old and grumpy they forget Santa is real. But Santa will always be there for those who remember his magic."
A teacher said: "I teach history and come across students who still believe in Santa every year. If and when it comes up and some kid says he's not real I adamantly say he is. If they argue that they caught their parents putting gifts under the tree or shopping - I tell them Santa outsources because it's a lot of work to deliver all over the world."
